Well Hilkiah Stephen decided to come 2 weeks early! He was born on Monday November 2, nearly in the car on the way to the hosiptal.

I had a regular check-up on Mon afternoon. I felt pressure and a little discomfort afterwards and didn't think much about it. I was at home watching DWTS and writing thank you cards from my baby shower. I started to feel mild contractions, but wanted to be sure since I went the hospital the week before with false labor. By 30 minutes into the show I went from slightly strong contractions every 13 minutes to severe ones every 6 minutes. DH, the kids and I ran to the car for the 1 hour drive to the hospital. Who knew the freeway was that bumpy? I called my doctor and told her to have my epidural ready. The goal was to not have the baby in the car. We rolled up to the ER entrance at about 10:15 p.m. and I had the baby at 11:10 p.m. Too late for the epidural.

Hilkiah was taken to the NICU due to respirtory stress. It was also confirmed that he has Down Syndrome. After a couple of days he was strong, healthy and ready to go home with me. He is so beautiful and we are so fortunate to have him. He is amazing!

OMG congratulations mammabyrdie!! wow, sounds like a really quick labor, glad you were able to make it hospital in time! and glad he is home from the NICU as well. he is beautiful. congrats again!!

Congratulations on your little guy! I am so happy you made it to the hospital! I work with a lot of children with Down's syndrome who are remarkable individuals. May his addition to your family bring you joy

Congratulations! I hope it wasn't too scary for you trying to get to the hospital. At least it was quick!
