Default Part time jobs for Mom?

Does anyone have a part-time job that allows them to be home with the kids in the afternoon?

I can't go back to my old line of work, the hours were hideous...no flexibility. not a family-friendly place.

Something in the 8am-1pm range. More to keep my sanity...doesn't have to make big money...my kids are older, so i just want something interesting to do...but don't want to work T00 Hard.....

How about a secretary or assistant job? I worked part time as an assistant to a company. They were very flexible with my hours, I worked whenever and how every many hours I wanted to. It didn't make much, but they didn't work me to death either.

^ Good idea. We have a gal that works as a legal assistant in our office part time, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day. It is not too hard either- just confirming stuff, some dictation, making sure the mail gets out... I know she does not make big money, but it is not terrible either for what she does and the hours. Or what about doing something related to your old line of work in a lesser capacity w/ a part time schedule, if that is possible?

I have two kids under five and I've been wondering what I'll do when they are both in school. I would be interested to know what qualifications do you need to be a preschool (or any type of) teacher? Thanks!

I'm thinking of getting certified to teach Pilates. I've been taking lessons for several years. The manager at the studio I go to has told me she'll guarantee me a job if I get certified. I'd be pretty much able to set my own hours, though I'm sure they have some times with less demand. I need to wait till my baby gets a little older and I'm back in shape, though!!

A lot of local coffee shops do mother's hours. I'd also check out Craigslist!

Check with your local hospital. They always need dietary staff and patient care techs. Most hospitals have 12-hour shifts available, so you could work 2 12-hr shifts and have the rest of the week free.

I'm a ParaEducator. I work in the evenings right now (in Adult Ed.) but when my kids are in school, I'll probably go to work in the day school system. It's easy to get certified. Just check out your state's requirements by going to ets.org. I love it; it's a great job :)

I am a high school teacher. I work one day on and the next day I am off so I work either twice a week or three times a week. I really love the fact that I am home at a good time and am able to spend a lot of time with my children while they are still young. Also, I know that the teacher's assistants that work in our schools make a decent salary and they have the option of also working 2-3 days per week and they are off by 3pm. It is relatively easy to become a certified assistant as well.

How 'bout real estate? You pick your own hours and get to work at home, unless you hold open house or show properties to clients.

Gyms are fabulous for part time work, and a lot have morning daycares - so the baby is only a few steps away!

Or, if you don't want to be a morning receptionist, teaching classes such as Yoga, Pilates, Spinning, or anything of interest, really, is always in super high demand! But true, you should work on yoiur figure, because people tend to look up to your example.

Good luck!
