Default overdose on daily recommended vitamins?

I've been taking my prenatal pills before I was even pregnant. I was reading a book last night that listed the daily recommended intake of each vitamin I should get per day. It said that pregnant people should take vitamin supplements to make sure they are getting enough for the day if your diet is not healthy. Ever since I learned that I was preggers, I've been eating very healthy. Lots of fruits, spinach, broccoli, chicken, avocado, ect. I am also still taking my prenatel vitamins daily. Looking at the chart from the book, I am going way past the daily recommended amount. Especially the folic acid. My prenatels already give me 1000mg/day. Can a person overdose on folic acid? Is it healthy for the baby to have too much folic acid? Someone told me that I should cut down, and take my prenatels every other day. Does anyone know the affects on a baby for having too much vitamins?

i think the best thing to do would be to ask your doctor. tell him/her what your daily intakes are and see what they say...but i did read somwhere that too much vitamin A is not good.

If you only concern is folic acid, then you don't have to worry because your body naturally get rid of the extra folic acid that you don't need. Vitamin A, on the other hand, is a little different.
