Here's my big guy! Oh he's so much fun! He's got his first cold right now...yuck! I'd much rather have it 10 times worse than watch him go through this. Poor baby.
How are you all doing? I miss you girls!
We've run into a slew of bad luck, and we can't seem to catch a break. Pardon my complaining, but it can't get much worse. My husband total his car after some bad weather, he lost his job following a work comp injury (he's in the middle of filing a law suit for wrongful termination, but who knows how long that'll take), and he's had to file with the military for immediate volunteer deployment to a war zone (i.e. Afghanistan) simply to maintain our cost of living. He'll get his orders in Jan and who knows how long he'll be away from us. We had the means for me to stay home with Brennan prior to all of this. Not anymore. I'm going back to work next week. My heart is broken over all of this. We'd be ok if we weren't still paying medical bills from his NICU stay. It's awful. And, all of this during Brennan's first holiday season. I know we are blessed that we all still have our health, ect, but I just can't believe how bad things have gotten seemingly overnight.
Thanks for listening. It's really difficult always wearing a happy face for Brennan, but hurting so much, and dealing with so much stress on the inside.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and that you're luck has been better than mine!
Oh no Brennan! I hope he feels better soon. Grant has been a little stuffy these past few weeks but I'm pretty sure it was just the change of season and dryer air... though today it was a little runny so I'm hoping he's not getting sick, too!
I'm sorry to hear about your job and money troubles. I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys. Money troubles suck! I'm staying home but we're just getting by. I definitely need to start working (from home) more but it's hard when you're pretty much the only one taking care of the baby. Will you be working full time? What will you be doing with Brennan? I hope going back to work is positive for you, and that your holidays are still good.
Cute picture! They definitely still resemble each other. :)
Yes...way too fast! I cannot believe my baby is almost 7 months old. He sits up, crawls, and has a tooth breaking through. I cannot believe how fast the time has gone.
By the way, Wordbox, my husband found a better job than the one he lost; I've started back mostly full time doing a better job, and we're in negotiations for our settlement from the company who wrongfully terminated him. So, things have 180'd after all of our struggles. My husband actually leaves tomorrow for a 2 week military trip to a base in Las Vegas and starts his new job as soon as he gets home. Just wanted to let you know things are going very well for us after the horrible luck we had.
Anyway, how's Grant doing? Does he use a walker yet? Brennan loves his. He runs through our house and squeals every time he hits something. It's so cute. He's in the 75th percentile for height and weight. What about Grant?
Hope some of our other mommies come back! Although I totally understand the lack of time to do things like chat on a blog...haha :)
And here's a more recent photo. Ryan and I both have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Minus the bright blue eyes and blond hair, Brennan is his twin. It's so funny how that works. Ryan is full blooded Italian and looks it completely, and I'm mostly Portuguese. Ryan's grandmother says Brennan is identical to her norther Italy cousins...she's the only blond, blue eyed person Brennan is related to. I love it :)
That's great to hear that your situation turned around! That's awesome. :)
Grant turned 6 months old this past Monday. Still not crawling or sitting up on his own, though, but doesn't seem "behind." He CAN sit up without help, but he gets lazy and then doesn't care if he flops over, lol. He tries to scoot around a little bit but doesn't get his knees under himself. He rolls over easily, though, and his motor skills are great (as far as reaching for things, putting things to his mouth, playing with toys, etc.). We haven't used a walker, but he loves his little activity center.
He cut his first tooth on Christmas Eve, and the one next to it came in three days later. They're cute! He has his 6 month appointment tomorrow, so I'm not sure where he stands now, but at his 4 month appointment he was in the 85-90th percentiles for height and weight. Oy!
Love that picture of Brennan! He's so handsome! What beautiful eyes. Grant got that same hoodie for Christmas. :)
Here's his 5 month picture, I still need to take his 6 month one but I've been sick all week and am not very motivated.
Hi- I have not posted in here since Victoria was born. She is 6 1/2 months old now. My hubby and I both have blond hair and blue eyes- our daughter has red hair! LOL She really is a Victoria Rose, I named her perfectly not knowing she'd be a red head.
She is 50th percentile for weight and 85% for height! Dresses are SOOOO short on her. We just started using Carters 9 months this week.
She was 6 months premature but seems up to everything, still not crawling or sitting on her own. Her smiles and giggles are like the angels singing, I die a little each time. When I come home from work and she looks at me and smiles..it is the greatest part of my day.
Here are 2 pics- 1 taken the 1st week of Dec and the other a few nights ago. Yes, she knows how to do a Bronx cheer now. LOL
Grant isn't crawling or sitting on his own yet, either. He can sit up on his own, but sometimes he'll just flop backward or to the side so you still have to stay with him. He's getting better, though. He wants soooo badly to crawl, haha. He's really pushing himself up on his hands and he'll turn his body a bit and get his knees under him... but then he'll push off with his feet instead, haha. Poor kid, he'll figure it out eventually.
Hi wordbox- yes, 6 weeks early!! Victoria is trying so hard to push up...not so much on crawling yet. She turns immediately when on a flat surface on her back, she'll get there. LOL My husband says she is going to have a great 6 pack from trying to sit up, looks like crunches.
Yes, enjoy them stationary! Brennan crawls perfectly...he'll be 8 months old in 10 days...and I cannot contain him. He refuses to be still! It's precious though. I love that he can finally get to things that interest him. He's started saying "ba-ba" for bottle, "moosh" for kisses, "ni-ni" for bed time, and "mo" for bites. I cannot believe how fast he's picking up words. Well, baby talk words. But, it's still so fun. I can't wait for mama or dada, but so far food words seem far more important to him, lol.
Brennan still has no teeth. The bottom ridge has started swelling, so maybe soon. He'll chew up things, or gum them I guess haha. His favorite breakfast is mushed bites of avocado and banana. He's right at 20 lbs now. He has been getting longer and thinning out a bit. But, I think it's because he's mobile now and working so darn hard.
Hope you all had wonderful Valentine's Days! Brennan gave me a dozen big, slobbery smooches :) Best gift ever!!
^ Aww, Brennan! He's adorable. He's getting so big! I can't believe how much Grant is going to change in the next month or two. Just the last two days he's been really working hard at crawling and can now get both knees underneath himself so his little butt is in the air, haha.
That's awesome that he's developing his language skills so much already! I read to Grant a lot and talk to him/explain things all day long; he's vocal but doesn't repeat things back or anything. Do you do anything special?
I just repeat the same things over and over. And I mean over and over and over. Every single time we go into his room, whether it's for bed or diaper change, every time, we go look at his crib. I'll say "here is your night night crib." At bed time we always get out his favorite blanket, and I call it his night night blanket. He now refers to the crib and his bed time blanket as his ni-ni. I think he started developing babble early though. He's been mimicking sounds for months. He was growling before he was six months old. They all just have their own pace for everything.
Has Grant started with a tippy cup yet? And, will he hold his own bottle? Brennan refuses to hold his bottle, but he's just starting to control a tippy cup pretty well.
Once he figures out his knees it won't be long at all. Brennan spent a month trying to pull himself along with his arms, but 2 days after he got his knees up he was gone! So, Grant may be crawling before you know it!
Just wondering how all the July 2010 babies are doing!! My little boy Max just turned two on July 20th. I can't believe how fast time flies!!?????? Are any of you currently pregnant or maybe already had another baby after this? I hope everyone is well. Here is a picture of Max!
