Default January 2010 mommies thread - come on in if you are due this month!!
I hope this is not too early to start this thread, but I thought we needed a place to share our stories and ask questions as we progress through our pregnancies together. So who else it due in January? Let's hear what is going on with you and your baby.

I am due Jan 27 and can't wait. I am 15 weeks and 1 day today. Everything is looking good. I go back next week for my 16 week check up. Probably will be too early to tell the sex, but you never know. Anyways I had my Nuchal screening and that all came back negative so I am happy about that. I have actually lost 3 pounds, which I am excited about too. Although I was overweight slightly to begin with and I actually lost 7 pounds at my 12 week appt I have put back on 4 of that in the last few weeks. I do stay hungry all the time now. Other than that - no real symtoms other than congestion in my nose and my clothes are getting tighter and tighter.

OMG, you read my mind, i was just gonna start this thread, lol!! :)

anyway, my name is anita and i'm 31 years old and am expecting baby #1 on January 22, 2010 (so funny, the year 2010--even though it's only 5 months away, it still sounds so science fiction-y to me!). DH & I are very very excited. We still don't know the gender yet, we will find out at our "big" ultrasound on August 24th (18 weeks). Cannot wait!! We had our nuchal translucency scan at 12 weeks and the doc said everything was normal, and even pointed out a little something in between the baby's legs and said it "might" be a boy..but then said it's really too early to tell. I have a feeling it's a boy though, but who knows...

oh, i am 16 weeks today, and i seemed to have FINALLY gotten over the morning sickness!! I felt soo nauseous for most of my first trimester, it royally sucked..with that and the fatigue I honestly felt like i was dying a slow death!! lol I felt bad because even at 14 weeks I had not gained a single pound. Lately though I have getting my energy back and have been starting to like food and even get cravings for things like hamburgers, chocolate and ice cream! Supposedly i should be gaining 12-14 lbs in 2nd trimester, I am so looking forward to doing that!!

Thanks Jenniletv for creating this thread :)

I'm 18 weeks pregnant, due date Jan 7, 2010. I am still waiting for my AFP results.. but so far all of my ultrasounds came back normal. Just waiting for the AFP and I'll be on the clear! Next appointment Aug 22, hopefully we can tell by then if its a boy or girl! I had a scan on Week 16, OB told me he THINKS its a boy but not sure as he said it MIGHT BE the umbilical cord :P so we will see!! I lost 10lbs total on my first trimester.. gain 2lbs since Week 16... I just hope I won't gain THAT much now :P

nice meeting you all!!

yeah, it should be fun!! can't wait till we all find out what we're having!! and then after that, when we can feel the baby kicking etc..i am so looking forward to that!

jenniletv - that is cool that u get a 16 week u/s, maybe you will get to find out the gender then! i don't think it may necessarily be too early, i've heard of several people finding out at 15/16weeks. i guess it just depends on the position of the baby and stuff like that...

Yeah I go once a month and get an ultrasound each time and it just so happens to be 16th week this month. Next visit I will be around 20 weeks and I am sure we will know something then. They just like to measure the baby and make sure all is well each visit, etc. I am not complaining, because I get to see the baby alot. Yeah my baby has mainly been on its side so I am not sure if that will be beneficial at all but it may be possible to see something.
I can not wait to start feeling something. Some friends of mine said they starting feeling things that felt like a flutter or gas bubbles at around 16 weeks and it was the baby they were feeling. I'd like to feel that soon.

A thread just for us? Cool! Im 35 and DH and I are expecting our first child January 18. You know they say being born after the first of the year will turn out to be very beneficial later in life (deadlines and all that stuff). I suppose that makes up a little bit for being born in the middle of winter!! This will be our first child.

I know what we're having and I say "I" because my husband still doesn't want to know, which I have begrudgingly accepted. It sure makes shopping hard, although we still haven't actually purchased anything. I found out the sex three weeks ago thanks to my battery of genetic testing. I think today, at about 16.5 weeks, is a good opportunity to finally stop referring to my past miscarriages and letting them scare me, and move forward with nothing but faith and positive thinking.

Im starting to feel pretty regular fluttering about twice a day and as of the last couple of days a few light thumps, always at 11am.

I have not officially "come out" to my coworkers or facebook friends, but enough people already know and its becoming more obvious. Im down to about 3 to 4 pairs of pants I can still wear. I have only gained 3 pounds if that - and I think its because I stopped drinking beer which balanced any effects of baby weight gain! Haha. My biggest struggle now is to eat healthy, which I could be better with.

Welcome Viba - so what are you having? How did they know so early - by an ultrasound? I can't wait to feel the fluttering. Eating healthy was not an issue for me a month or so ago but in the last few weeks all i have craved are carbs like pasta, bread, you name it I want it. I need to get back on the eating healthy bandwagon.

I forgot to add that I am 33 (just recently) and my DH is 34. This is our first.

Has anyone started working on a nursery? I have picked what room - our office and have begun cleaning it out - throwing away trash and getting is straightened up. I have several large things to move out of there, like a desk and filing cabinet before I can start putting in nursery stuff. Will be a slow process.

Jenniletv- babyplus is a prenatal education system that you can use when you're 18 weeks. The BabyPlus curriculum is a series of 16 naturally derived sounds that resemble a mother's heartbeat. The rhythm of the sounds increases incrementally as the pregnancy progresses. The BabyPlus sonic pattern introduces your child to a sequential learning process, built upon the natural rhythms of their own environment.

My co worker was using that last year and her baby is now 6 months old and still very calm and well behaved. Not sure if Babyplus really works but won't hurt to give it a try. So I borrowed hers and will see if it will work on my baby :)
