I exactly know what you mean... I'm exactly like you when I was Week 14 Week 15... It almost feel unreal... no more morning sickness and no flutters nor kicking... hang in there, you will feel the flutters VERY soon... when you feel the flutters, you'll feel so much better I promise

Besides, I still have the worries, I'm still worrying about my AFP test. OB did mention that if there's any problem, the state will notify us within a week. It has been more than 2 weeks. The DH was like it already passed those weeks and ask me not to worry but I still haven't stop worrying. I guess I will stop until the nurse tell me I got a negative. But I have to keep on repeating to tell myself that everything is going to be fine

^^ BearyT, what state are you in? I'm only 26, living in California. I'm going to take my 16-20 week genetic testing tomorrow. I'm scared! I'm choosing to take the test to make sure that everything is ok.
Who else has already taken the 2nd trimester 'genetics' testing?

hi loveBV, I'm 30 living in S.Cali Yeah I just took the AFP genetic testing on my Week 16 as well. I am still waiting for my results. I got the bill from the state but still no results yet. Anxiously waiting for it. I'm the same, just want to take it to make sure everything is ok.

I am sure that all is well. Like they said they would have called if anything was wrong. Maybe you could call your dr's office and check on the results.

My bill came up $162. They enclosed an insurance claim form with the bill. The nurse asked me to fill out the insurance claim form and send it back to the state and the state will bill my insurance company directly. So if insurance company will cover half or have co-pay, they will send you another letter for billing. The nurse told me usually the insurance will cover

Thank you so much!!! that was the amount listed in the CA health booklet (the blue one). Ok, I'll be off doing some blood work tomorrow...

I'm sure you're baby is fine. That's probably why your doctor/state has not contacted you. Maybe you should contact your doctor for the results if you can't wait any longer.

Well I hate to say it but it looks like you are going to have to wait. If you have already called once this week you may want to wait another week or so. Don't bug them too much.

BearyT, I am starting to be surprised that its taking this long. Im sure it doesnt mean anything bad, but still its annoying. Is it the genetics counselor that is supposed to call you, or your OB doctor?

It seems too long because I know the sample will expire within a month or so and if you or your DH need any other testing (like if you are a carrier of a mutation, etc) it could miss the time window. I would think someone would offer to call and do a checkup because they realize its been a while.

Also, how can they say they would call and let you know if it were something bad - they dont have the results so how can they say they would be able to give you a partial answer like that?

My hospital is a major hospital in Chicago and I was surprised they told me that it is actually tested in a facility in New Mexico. I wonder if that is a specialized lab or something. They probably sent your stuff off, but Im only guessing.

Hi Viba, this is my first so I'm not sure about if that's how California testing works with this long wait or what is going on. But as far as I know, the test do come from the state. And you're so right on the further testing and that's the reason why I"m worrying too. My window will be so small if I need like an Amio test or whateva test to confirm. I am close to 19 weeks already and still didn't get the report. The OB and nurse know its been over 2 weeks already too. The nurse told me average time 2-3 weeks to receive the results. As I was telling the nurse that I am very very worried and she told me not to worry because IF the testing center find something not normal, they will not wait but to call the OB and call me directly for further testing. So till this day, I have no call from them, that doesn't mean I'm 100% sure its okay but at least I didn't get a call telling me that I need further testing. The bill I received is from San Francisco, so I'm assuming they sent my blood to their facility for testing.

BearyT, my samples will be sent to a State testing center located in Oakland, CA. I think your sample may have been sent there too. Although I live in the Bay Area, but I'm almost certain that there is a central location where the blood work gets sent to. When I get home, I'll check my form to make sure I'm giving you the correct information.

Don't worry. No news is good news with Ob.
Did you do the first trimester screening? I am getting blood drawn for the APF screening this Fri (I'll be 16 weeks then).

loveBV
I am pretty sure they have multiple labs across the state. It would be crazy for the specimens to be shipped 300 something miles for testing.
Just FYI about the insurance claim form and the bill - for my first pregnancy, I got a second bill in the mail about a month or so after I mailed in the insurance claim form. So I called the state dept of health to see if they got the form. They said that it usually takes a month or so for them to process everything. So don't worry if you get a second bill, it doesn't mean your insurance isn't paying for it.

jenniletv
I know what you mean by still feeling surreal. Heck, it's my second baby, and I still feel that way. I am still constantly worrying. That's just the nature of pregnancy.
