Haha, my husband says Im already looking big. Just you wait!

BearyT, which stroller did you get?

As far as the stroller, I wonder if its better to get something less expensive like a Graco for the infant stroller, then upgrade when the baby needs a toddler stroller? I am so confused about strollers and planning for the sizes of things, you know?

I think we are going to end up getting more top quality crib and bedding, etc and maybe getting a cheaper dresser unit from Ikea...not sure yet. Thinking about getting the Oeuf crib as our decor is pretty modern. Either that, or the Moda from Room and Board. There is a whole world of bedding out there, but I really like Serena & Lily or Dwell Studio stuff.

^i too am so confused about strollers and other things (car seats, etc) ..seems like there are a thousand different brands with a million different models...makes my head spin!! for now i'm just planning on getting the Graco Snugride infant seat and that stroller piece to go with it. it gets really good reviews from Baby Bargains and other sites, is cheap and seems to be pretty popular. i'll probably upgrade to something else later on once the baby is bigger and i know more of exactly what kind of stroller i really need.

and ikea is great for dressers. we bought a dresser for our baby's closet at Ikea for just $80.

Happy weekend! mammas to be :) how's everyone's weekend going so far?

sweetneet: wow Texas!!! must be very hot right now!

We got the Bugaboo Cameleon... DH and I were deciding to either get the Quinny Buzz or the Bugaboo... but after the sales rep show us how to assemble and dissemble both strollers... DH and I love the Bugaboo... you guys are right, there are TONS of strollers out there...!! so just be sure to go to a store and play with it before you buy it :) and yea.. some strollers are good for infants only which means you may need to get another toddler stroller later.. but we're expecting to use the Cameleon for a few years, up to 40lbs. Also ladies, be sure to check out the car seat, make sure it fits the brand/model of your stroller. For instance, the Bugaboo only fits Graco, Maxi Cosi and Peg Perago infant car seats :) which you have to an adapter for, so be sure to pick up one when you buy your strollers.

Hi there!

I'm due January 4th, but already have a scheduled c-section for December 28th. Yeah...a Christmas baby and a tax write off...ha..ha.

I just wanted to mention how wonderful the book Baby Bargins has been for me. Like a lot of you, I was so confused on what to buy, what was safe and what was unnecessary. The book costs $20, but is worth every penny. It gives you ratings on cribs, strollers, car seats, etc. They also tell you about the things you will probably never use like a wipe warmer.

I read the book and then picked out the things that I wanted and created an on-line baby registry at babies-r-us and target.

Good luck to all of you and make sure you get your rest....we can't be superwoman right now and God knows I'm trying to be and always end up pooping myself out!!

i agree 1000%, the Baby Bargains book is a GODSEND. i hadn't heard about it until last month, when I announced my pregnancy to everyone and my friend (who had twins last year) recommended it to me. I totally agree, Baby Bargains is amazingly helpful. After reading most of the reviews and the Sample Registry section, it really helped me get my registry started at Babies R Us. Otherwise i wouldn't have known where to start.

And yeah, like the book mentions, it seems like the baby industry is a lot like the wedding industry...just slap a "wedding" or "baby" label on something, and there's an automatic 25% or 50% markup. And of course companies/vendors always pushing all kinds of gadgets and gizmos that you don't really need.

and it's interesting you mention the wipes warmer..when i first heard of them and was thinking of stuff to get for the nursery, i was like "That sounds so cool, I'm definitely getting one of those!!" Then I read the Baby Bargains book and the reviews at BRU and found out that a lot of them (i think Prince Lionhart brand) had been recalled recently because of fire hazards and parents getting electric shocks from them. In other cases there were complaints of the bottom feet on the warmer overheating, leaving behind dark marks on furniture. Further, i read that people complained that they always dried out the wipes and weren't really useful in the first place. So yeah, these were things i wouldn't have known if hadn't read this book.

Thanks jenniletv for starting this thread.

Hello all, I'm 26 and will be having my first baby Jan 23, 2010. I had an ultra sound at 13 weeks and the doctor said everything is fine. She noticed that there were some male junk between the baby's legs. I really don't care for the baby's sex as long as the baby is healthy. I'm currently 16 weeks and can't wait to meet my baby.

I have been struggling a bit during my first trimester. I have decided to be a single parent. My boyfriend isn't stepping up to his duties and we're constantly fighting since we found out I was pregnant. We just have not been eye to eye on when it comes to decision making and it's really tearing apart our relationship. I still want him to come to doctor visits and be part of the baby's life. Everyone tells me that it will be a tough journey for me to be a single parent but I think it will be harder when married to someone just because of the baby.

I finally grow out of my pre pregnancy jeans at 12 weeks. My first pair were from Target, the moment I put them on, I cried because they were so unflattering. Later that week, I went out to Pea in the Pod and purchased a pair of 7 Jeans, it looks sooooooooo great on me. If anyone is looking for maturity jeans, I say go for your favorite brand of jeans!

Love to hear more from Jan 2010 moms...

Sweetneat - the nursery is coming along for you. At least you have one peice of furniture in it, which I love by the way.

I spent all day Saturday cleaning out our office like the desk and our filing cabinet to get ready to move it all out. The desk and filing cabinet will just have to go in our den, because our other spare room is a guest room and I want to leave it like it is. So we will spend this coming weekend moving the big stuff out. I only have one peice of furniture for the baby's room and that is an old dresser of mine from my Dad's house. It is one of those long ones with 6 drawers and the top of it is going to be the changing table. It the right color and everything. The less we have to buy the better. Once I get the room cleaned out and the dresser in there I will start taking pics.

Also I had a scare of the weekend. I was taking the dog out yesterday and I was chased by a hornet and had to run to get away from it. I hope all that jarring and running will not affect the baby in any way. I am so scared about it. Someone ease my mind, please!!!

I've gained about 3.5 lbs total at last week appt. My NT scan and 1st tri screening came back negative, and I will get blood drawn for the APF next Friday. My Ob likes to have his patients come in every 3 weeks, so that's what I've been doing. The last three appts, Ob did u/s, but he won't do anymore until closer to the due date. From now on, it's the doppler to listen to the HB. My big u/s will be done at a radiology clinic, and I can't wait. It'll probably be in 5 weeks or so.

I am already wearing maternity jeans starting yesterday. My regular jeans were getting uncomfortable, and I don't like wearing them unbuttoned or with the rubber band trick. I am still in the "in-between" phase where people can't tell that I am pregnant. I had told me boss that I am pregnant, so some people in the office knows but not everyone. The family all know. We've told some friends, but not everyone. I think I am just going to post a sonogram on facebook.

Welcome!!! glad to see you here. My clothes are getting tight too but I have not even started looking at maternity clothes yet. I have been using the rubberband and wearing stretchy stuff for now. I need to go soon and at least get a pair of maternity pants/capris for now. I am already overweight (like 40 pounds) and carry it mainly in my middle so you can't tell I am yet. But my tummy is getting harder and I can feel my uterus.

Ahh there is too much to look it, I agree. I'd like to get a stroller, car seat all in one. So that you can use the carrier as a carseat and then pop it on the stroller. That is my only plan so far when it comes to baby things. I have been looking at cribs too but have not decided on any yet. My dad wants to buy the crib so we are grateful for that. But I still do not want to pick the most expensive one ya know. I am going to have to hit some baby stores here very soon to start getting some ideas.

Hi and Welcome!! wow they saw something that early. I am going Wednesday and I hope they can see something for us.

I am so sorry about your boyfriend. That is a very big decision to be a single parent and I commend you for being so brave and strong right now. I am sure it will not be easy but it can be done and you have us here if you need advise or just need to talk.

We do not have that store here Pea in the Pod - that really bites!! I only know of one maternity only store in this area and I have not been yet but things in there are sooo expensive. I have checked on plus size clothing too and found some cute shorts but that is all I have gotten yet.

at this point i don't think running should affect the baby at all. i know a lot of runners who kept running/jogging while they were pregnant and everything was ok. unless the doctor says no (because of a high risk pregnancy or other complications) it seems like it should be fine. it's amazing how much movement etc a baby in there can stand at this stage. when i was around 11 weeks my DH accidentally elbowed me in the tummy (i had come up behind him and he didn't know i was there) and he really freaked out thinking he had harmed the baby. but i had a ultrasound since then and everything was fine. the baby is in the amniotic sac that protects it. i just think, at this point i still can't feel the baby move even though i know it must be moving like crazy in there...so that just shows how "cushioned" it is in there, KWIM?

That is what I keep telling myself although I am not a runner or jogger, LOL. I only run when I have to. But I am hoping that all is well. I go to the Dr/ Wed. so we'll see.

jenniletv,
Don't worry about the running. I ran 5 miles everyday up until last month. I am currently doing pre natal yoga, which is not easy at all! Your baby should be fine. I think your uterus and all that liquid inside of it cushions and protects your baby.

I forgot how big I got... The other day I was trying to squeeze myself between a table and a chair and hit the corner of a granite table. I had this pinching pain for 5 hrs. My mom said that if I'm not bleeding I should be fine.
