OMGSWEET, I thought the same thing and was worried for Stern! Glad this is an old thread.

I was just reading how one of the downsides of testing too early is that you might come up with a positive then misscarriage and get your period as usual. If you hadn't test you wouldn't have known.

My friend just M/C. She was about 10 weeks when it happened but since she didn't have any symptoms she didn't find out until she went for a doctor's appointment at 12 weeks.

I know, it's just depressing to come on here and see 3 of them. Even if you don't open them the title stares you in the face. And I think anyone that has read my posts know about my fears due to my medical condition and understands the tone with which I wrote the other post. As in a nervous AHHH!

That has happened to me twice. With my first pregnancy, we knew it was twins (saw both heartbeats on ultrasound at about 7 1/2 weeks). I had very light spotting at 12 weeks, and it turned out one of the babies had died. All I had was the spotting for about 2 days - no cramping or anything else. I was devastated, since everything had seemed to be going so well, but if I hadn't had my first ultrasound until later, I might never have known there were twins. With this pregnancy, we must have lost one much, much earlier, because at the first ultrasound (7 1/2 weeks) they could tell another embryo had implanted, but it was much smaller than the other and they never saw a heartbeat. These were both IVF pregnancies (hence the early ultrasounds), so I knew there was a higher chance of multiples, but it is thought that "vanishing twins" are actually more common than people think, even in regular pregnancies. It can be a cause of first trimester spotting/bleeding.

PurseFanatic, I'm sorry this is an upsetting thread for you, and I know what it's like to try to avoid reading this kind of stuff when you have your own anxieties about a pregnancy. Miscarriage is really such a common problem, though, and it's the kind of thing where it can help to talk about it and get more information from others who have been through it. Maybe it should be a subforum of Pregnancy and Parenting instead of mixed in with the other posts? Like TTC is? I don't know if there are enough posts on the topic to support that, but it's a thought.
