That is a tough choice... I was induced with my last pregnancy and was in labor for about 12hrs! After all that time and pain they decided I wasn't going to deliver and had to do a c-section. So this time around I do not want to go through all of that and getting a c-section.
Good Luck & Hope Everthing Goes Well! |

I've had induced as well as un-induced vaginal deliveries, plus a c-section. IMO no difference in the vaginal deliveries, except the induced went so much faster and was my best delivery. The c-section was scheduled because of problems I was having. It was a difficult recovery.
My daughter, on the other hand, had 2 c-sections -- the first after being in labor for some time, which was a harder recovery for her than her scheduled c-section. It just seems a shame to spend hours in labor only to have a c-section, which is difficult. I wish you the best for a healthy, safe delivery. |

Good luck!
I guess I'll jump in and say this... I had our little guy via c-section. The recovery was a bit painful, but they gave me pain meds in the hospital and it was fine. I delivered around 8 am and had the catheter and IV in until around midnight. After that, I was able to get up to use the bathroom. The nurse helped me get there the first time, but I went back to bed and then back and forth to the bathroom after that by myself. By halfway through the day after delivery, I was up quite a lot and was able to wear my own pj's, shower by myself and wash, dry and curl my hair. I was perfectly capable of getting up to pick up our baby boy to feed him, change him, etc. (he stayed in the room with us). It hurt some to sneeze and cough, but nothing I couldn't handle. I was in the hospital for 3 nights (which was fine because it was just enough time for DS's circumcision to heal!). When I went home, they gave me pain medication, but I started taking 2 Tylenol, 2 Motrin (OTC), and a decent amount of water instead, and didn't need the drugs. I was driving and going to Babies R Us the day we went home. When DS was 6 days old, we were going for walks. The ONLY problem I had was that the morphine made me sick (in the delivery room and once more in my room a few hours later). About 10 days post-op, I had a small infection in my incision, but the doctors were immediately on top of it, gave me a round of antibiotics, and it healed perfectly. I won't even consider a VBAC next time - we'll schedule a c-section and be done with it. Doesn't worry me at all. If you need a c-section (or decide to have one), you'll be fine. Yes, it's surgery, but the recovery isn't that big a deal, so please don't be scared. |

Good luck with whatever you choose.
And with that said, I would choose the induction, having been through both now. My c-section was Sept. 1st, so I've had a month to recover, and I'm still not feeling like myself. I overdid it today when I went to the state fair for a few hours, and just walking around pushing a stroller made me sore again in the midsection. Everything has healed pretty well, but the first week after was not fun at all, and the second week, while better, was still pretty crappy. With my induction 4 years ago, I was up and walking around within a few hours, and felt pretty normal by the next day. |

i had a csection and even though recovery was smooth, it was still major abdominal surgery. i wouldn't willingly pick that as the first choice. i'd go with the induction if possible, but good luck with whatever you choose!

Good luck tomorrow S! I'll be thinking of you.
I was induced w/ DS 1---he was 14 days late! I did end up with a c section b/c his heart rate kept dropping. He was big, too---8.10 with a giant head! I don't think I could have delivered him vaginally. |

As long as you get a healthy baby out of the deal - it doesn't matter how they get here. Don't feel like getting a cesarean = a failure on your behalf. You are doing what it takes to have a healthy baby. Period.

You guys are so wonderful! The support here is just amazing and it really helps having all of you
![]() We had a really rough day yesterday with Cytotec started around 10 and then Pitocin at @3. We were on the Pit until this morning and I was having almost constant contractions but they were just not strong enough and nothing was happening. I was 1cm dilated and 60% effaced when we arrived and the same when they sent us home this morning . She offered the C section this morning since I had made no progress at all or she gave us the option of coming back Thursday morning to try again since my BP and Edema dropped so much. We decided to leave and come back Thursday morning for another round and if this one does not work we'll have the C on Friday morning. I'm feeling pretty down right now after everything but hopefully Thursday we'll make some progress and either way our LO will arrive soon. |
