Default I'm having thoughts on having a baby next year and

it's scaring me a little

I'll be 30 next year and I feel like part of me is saying, next year is the year to get pregnant and have the baby in 2010

I know there's a "How do you know" thread, but....I was wondering if my gut keeps telling me its the right time in the next year or so, what can I do to prepare....what can I read? I'm just nervous talking about it

Start taking prenatals now! If you smoke, stop and just be healthy :) All these things make it easier. Also, if you don't work out now's the best time. It'll help prepare your body for the baby and makes labor easier too!

Hey Sim, you sound just like me! I just posted a thread yesterday in the TTC subforum asking if other ppl were scared too! I am nervous about getting pregnant, my body changing, labor and delivery, and most important if my baby will be healthy. It's just so hard to know if it's the best time - I know they always say there is no best time but I just wish there was a way to KNOW! I think this site is a great source of info and everyone is really open to helping each other out. Best of luck to you!

I've been trying to eat healthier, take prenatal vitamins, and save/pay down debt. I don't know what else you can do to prepare. I'm not nervous about pregnancy or labor or delivery really, but I am nervous about whether I'll have that maternal instinct or not. And I wonder if I will regret not waiting til we'd been married longer, traveled more, etc.

I think it is normal to feel a bit apprehensive. I know that I did at first. I had my daughter when I was 27. I was nervous but the moment she was born I knew that this was the absolute right thing to do! I want to have another one in the next year....

my husband and I waited for 12 years before deciding to have a baby. I got pregnant at 32 and before I got pregnant, I was taking prenatal vitamins, especially folic acid. I'm happy to say that I didn't have any problems with my pregnancy, I was so terrified, that everything that could go wrong will happen to me, but things were good. I ate as healthy as I could, (okay maybe I had some starbucks too, please don't shoot me) but everything turned out fine.

Well, if you're just starting thinking about it, I'd also start reading this book:
"Taking Charge of Your Fertility"
Will make the ttc proces that much easier
(even if you/I don't agree with everything that's said there lol)

Oh, and if you're still on the pill, you may want to stop. It may take few cycles afterwards to get it back to 'normal'.

30 seems like a great age to ttc! I waited a bit longer but if only circumstances were different, I wouldn't. Now I'm in my mid 30s, ttc since 7 months, and I'm freaking out

But besides that, this 'journey' is FANTASTIC; it's like a different world and I can't wait to be a part of it

Is it really ok to take prenatal vitamins before you get pregnant? I've heard people say it before but i wasn't sure.

First off, good luck for when/if you decide to get fully started ;-)

Next, get healthy, take vitamins, see a doctor AND a dentist now to fix any problems you may have.

Save money if possible.

Enjoy life!!

I started trying at 30 and had James at 31. He's now 9 months old and I love him to BITS! We're thinking of TTC#2 next summer. Aaaah...the time is flying by!!
