Default How long did you breast feed for?
I breast feed my son but only for two months due to other circumstances I have always felt guilty.
Just wondered how long everyone else breast feed for & for what reason they stopped?

with my DD, 6mos..but not full time-- with her, it was breastmilk and formula (she was my 1st and my milk wasn't that strong flowing. If I was just confident enough then that my milk will be sufficient for her, I would've not given her formula)

now with my DS, I'm planning to do 6mos also.. but I'm breatfeeding him full time.

i breastfed my 1st son for 10 mths and then one day we both just stopped. he didn't seem to miss it and i was so ready to get back into normal bras..lol.

now with 2nd son i was only able to breastfeed for 4 mths then i had to go on a trip, so he had what breast milk was in the freezer and then he was on to formula.

i don't feel guilty about it though. it was nice watching my hubby bottle feeding him. and it was nice to have my body back. but i do plan on breast feeding the new lil one.

Forever! I breastfed for 25 months. I worked and pumped from the time she was 4 mos to a year, then cut down to right before bed and when she woke up, then down to just bedtime.

It was the toughest but one of the best things I ever accomplished. My DD has never had an ear infection!

Mine have all self weaned, my goal was to get to a year with all of them. First weaned at 22 months, second at 17 months, third at 10 months (I was so sad for her, I was pg and once I hit my second trimester I think the flavor of my milk changed and she wouldn't nurse anymore - she wouldn't drink milk or formula as a replacement either so I was a worried mama for a couple of months!) and my third is still nursing at 16 months. I'm pregnant again and just started my second trimester so I expect her to wean anytime. She only nurses for comfort, just a couple of minutes at a time a couple of times a day. Once they're a year old I've usually lost all my baby weight and my milk supply goes way down.

w/ my singleton is was 6 months.
W/ my twins I couldn't nurse one of thema lthough I tried for a bout 2 weeks, he had too many nursing issues for me to try and overcome them while trying to also nurse his twin and care for my 3 yr old DD.
My other twin I only nursed for a bout 6 weeks. Really wished I could have gone longer. . . twins are really hard w/ another sibling

It just got longer & longer. My 1st self-weaned at 13 months, my 2nd was weaned at 26 months when I was pregnant with our 3rd. I weaned him around 30 months. After the first year, though it tends to come down to comfort, naptime or nighttime nursing, depending on the child, most of the nutrition is gained from normal meals by this time. I may have been lucky, all of my kids were 'barracuda nursers'.

My son was until roughly 26 months. He stopped when I was 8 months pregnant with my dd and then started again as a comfort thing for a couple of months after she was born. And then my dd nursed until roughly 24 to 28 months. I forget. Again, it was comfort at the end but not a big deal with me. And frankly I loved the quiet time with them.
So to each their own I guess. I think anyone who tries it, no matter how long you last, is awesome and they are healthier because of it.

With my first boy I nursed him for 14 months. My second I nursed until he was 10 months. Neither one of my boys ever took a bottle or a paci.

With my first 7 months. I became pregnant so I stopped. He was also supplemented with formula so he was"ready" With my second 19 months. I planned on nursing for a year and a half.

^^^ Same here! DD nursed for 25 months, but after about 15 months it was just first thing in the morning at last thing at night. She was a binki baby but never took a bottle except for from her DC provider. She would never take one from me or DH.

My first one 4 months, 2nd one 7 months, 3rd one only 3 months.

For all 3 had to stop due to work related issues.

I will be perfectly honest pumping just did not work for me. I give credit to those of you who could go for so long...it just was not for me. I will probably go for about 6 months with this one, but will play it by ear...

I feel no guilt and you shouldn't either...you need to do what works for you. All 3 of my boys were (and are) very healthy and the first 2 only had 1 ear infection each, ironically the last one, who nursed the least had none.

All 3 of the boys were weaned off the bottle by 1 year.
