Nursed my DS1 until 10 months, and DS2 is now 17 months old and mostly weaned, although occassionally he wants to nurse for a minute or two. It's comfort now, as I'm pretty sure I've stopped producing milk.

8 months so far, and i don't see us stopping soon (the kid loves his milkies)! i plan to let ds self-wean, i read somewhere that long-term breastfeeding has tremendous benefits the mother as well as the child.

Wow have no clue how I happened upon this thread but thought i'd tune in.. I breast fed for about 4 half months as my son started teething i guess as he clamped down on the nipple with his hard gums and pulled so hard it hurt like hell of course he thought it was so funny!...that was the last day for me!...I bought formula that day...he loved it!...prior to that I could have donated milk when i'd let down it was like I was putting out a fire lol...he did suffer from a silkly tummy now and then but nothing major on formula...also I have to say for me in comparison to my sister whom breast fed for a year and a half my breasts have not changed shape got smaller or sagged whereas hers have I am curious if anyone thinks the length of time you breastfeed determines this! if I were to have anymore the maximum I would breastfeed for is 6months or if the lil monster tried to bite me..lol!
