Endless tantrums. Rude back talk. Aggressive behavior. The gimmes. At some point you'll face a child-behavior problem that you just can't handle on your own. That's when you might head to the library to check out a few books on discipline. Or ask your best friend for some suggestions. Or, if you're really desperate, call your mom. But there's another option (and yeah, it's a pricey one): Hire a parent coach. Seriously.

Sign of the times where grandma isn't around to help new parents?
Yet another expensive Baby Boomer indulgence?
A hint that people are getting dumber and dumberer that they need to hire someone to show them common sense?

I think a parenting coach would be called for only if, well, the parents are at their wits' end with out-of-control kids and have NO idea what they're doing wrong. Most parents have at least some inkling of what they need to do, but there are those out there who are truly clueless.

at least some people are willing to get help.
What's worse, indulging and getting the help or letting your child develop further into a bigger than life brat?
A LOT of this parental group grew up in divorced homes and weren't shown or given examples of good parenting. This is me.
I grew up in a divorced home w/ a parent that worked 12 hours/day. VERY little parenting was happening in my home.
I had ZERO good examples set.

Now I am a SAHM of 3, if I needed help you can bet I'd get it, even if I had to pay for it.
Because if I needed it and didn't pay to get it. . . we'd all be paying for it later.
