I have the Uppababy Vista and love it. It IS heavy compared to some smaller strollers, but honestly I like that it is nice and sturdy. There are a lot of uneven/no sidewalks in our neighborhood and it's a smooth ride even "off-road". Even with its weight I can still lift it into the trunk one-handed. For me, the downside isn't its weight, but its huge footprint when folded. It takes up most of the trunk! But then, my car has terrible cargo space.

How much use you get out of the bassinet depends on what your needs are. If you do a lot of walking w/o driving, then the bassinet is great for trips out. We actually used it more inside the house than out, since for the first few months baby liked to sleep in it more than her crib or the pack & play. If you use it inside, make sure you get the bassinet stand. It makes it easy to move from room to room... we would leave the stand in the bedroom and the stroller in the living room, then just move the bassinet and snap it in.

We only got about 4 months use out of it, though. Baby suddenly decided she didn't like to sleep in it any more. I think by then she was big enough that she wanted more room to move around, and even on walks she liked sitting in the stroller seat more so she could look around rather than lie flat in the bassinet.

That's interesting...I decided NOT to get the bassinet stand because I figured I can just carry it with me and leave it on the bed during the day, and he will sleep in his crib during the night.

Another question - for those of you who bought or know someone who bought the Vista...what colors do you think are nice?

p.s. I am not going for black because at the store I am thinking about getting the Vista from, the black is on back order until the end of July :)

Ours wouldn't sleep in her crib for the first few months, so we kept it on the stand right next to our bed. We didn't get the stand right away, it just ended up easier so we ordered it after a few weeks. Now that we don't need the bassinet any more I might get the hamper insert and use the stand for that.

As for colors, we have a green one. Slate looked really nice, too. I know you're in a time crunch, but keep an eye out on Gilt. I've seen them go on sale there for around $475.

We had a Peg Pliko Switch and sold it for a Vista (in yellow). That color did get kind of dirty and I would recommend a darker color if you're fastidious

The Vista was far superior to the Peg in handling. I would highly recommend it. We never used the bassinet bc LO was too big for it by the time we bought the stroller. However we never would have used it anyway. We ended up selling the Vista for a City Select when we had LO2 bc LO1 wouldn't sit in the Vista rumble seat (something to think about if you're planning on having another child soon). Incidentally I still like the Vista better than the City Select

If cost is an issue and you may not use the bassinet, have you considered getting the Cruz?
