Time is flying by... I have been a mom for a little over four months now and although I will always be the same person, I can't believe that I also have this whole new identity. What things have surprised you about becoming a parent? Here are a few of mine...

- I am totally ADDICTED to this new little being :)
- I never realized how much my mom loves me until I had a child of my own
- I enjoy breastfeeding a whole lot more than I expected to
- Seeing my husband as a father makes me love him on a different level

-i just love watching them, they amaze me with their creativity and sense of humor.
--i am constantly wondering what mackenzie is thinking about.
-they may drive me bananas some times, but if i am away from them for a few minutes i am wondering what they are doing and how they are.
--they bring so much joy and love into my world, it's amazing.

I know, right. We'll have a rough day and when DH gets home, I will go out for a few minutes of "me" time and then be so excited to get back to her!

These are great!

For me:

1) How vulnerable I could be to this beautiful being that entered my life.
2) How lucky I am to be a mom. Period.
3) I am forever changed and I like that.

i also didn't know that i could love something so much and so completely and that i will do everything in power to keep them safe and happy.

Oh, totally.

I have one to add. I have never felt so strongly, period. Sadness when I'm away from him, happiness when he expresses his love, fear when he was sick in the hospital. I believe that every emotion I had felt up until the day he was born pales in comparison to the strength of the emotions I have now when I think of him.

He has changed me so much; he's made me a better person.

I'm having a second baby and I have a hard time believing I could feel the same way about another human being...but other people tell me it's possible. :)

I totally agree. Emotions are so much more intense. Happiness is on a whole new level. Love is a new level. Fear of her safety is a whole new level. I've never had the feeling until now that I would do ANYTHING to preserve her well being

For me, I never realized how quickly time flies (more specifically, the YEARS)... when you really want to slow things down and savor each moment.

i also never knew how much it would hurt ME when another child picks on one of mine. and how i have to let them work out their differences. i will, though ,stand up for them at the drop of a hat when i feel that they are incapable to do so.

GREAT THREAD

To no longer be SELFISH, to love someone more than yourself and want the best for them, when they smile at you and the love is unconditional, to see the world through the innocence of a child.

Realizing that OTHER STUFF, material things (even purses) don't mean anything, its so petty and insignificant, to be a mother is...

there are absolutely no words, my mother and sister used to tell me wait until you become a mother and NOW I KNOW what they meant.

I never realized how watching your child do something very small and absolutely insignificant to anyone else watching could make YOUR heart swell with pride until you're sure it'll burst.

- i love them more than life itself
- i want to kiss & sniff them 24/7
- i enjoy shopping for them more than for myself now!
- carrying their diaper bag completes my outfit more than any other handbag now
