Default Dr. Brown's Non Cholic Bottles
Has anyone tried these? A friend of mine works at a daycare where she keeps newborns and she said these are the best bottles. That there is one baby in her room with them and that is the most calm, least fussy baby. All the other ones are cholicy, cry all the time, etc.

I saw them at the grocery store, along with the Avent bottles, the Avent ones are soooooooooo cute! And they all seem to have the "air minimizing" technology now.

They look like they have a straw in them, and you pinch the nipple to prime it before giving it to baby.

I used them with my daughter and they worked well. However, I would get the glass version as the plastic ones contain BPA.

They make them now with BPA free plastic. The Polypropylene bottles which just came out this year.

With that said, I used Dr. Brown's with my son and now with my daughter.
My son was a very low-key infant and my daughter is proving to be just a calm. Both don't really spit up all that much and that I think I can attribute to the bottles.

However, I had three girlfriends whose babies were colic and NOTHING, not even these bottles helped. She pretty much spent every waking hour crying for 3 months straight. So I think that they probably help with the digestion, but I doubt very much with the colic.

Colicky babies will have colic no matter what you do. The only thing that will change with Dr. Brown's bottles is that your baby will be less gassy since it's a positive pressure bottle and they don't gasp in air like they do with normal ones. They are a HUGE PITA to clean though- I only recommend getting them if you plan on cleaning them in the dishwasher. They were ok for me, but not the godsend they are made out to be.

I tried a lot of different brands (Avent, Playtex and another brand which I can't recall) with DD and I found Dr. Browns to work best in minimizing gas. When it came time for DS, I went right to Dr. Browns. So far, no complaints. As a previous poster mentioned, I wash them in the dishwasher.

My son never had colic but he did have gas and I used the bottles for gas. The bottles have kept the gas away from my son. They do cost more than other bottles and the bottles do have extra parts but it was worth the extra money and cleaning the extra parts.

used them and loved them, but they don't 'cure' colic. One of my twins had colic and used these bottles.

I should also add that I found the standard Dr Browns bottles worked better for DD than the wide nipples. As a result of that, I just went with the standard bottles for my DS.

Yeah the bottles definitely doesn't do much for colic. My nephew was very colicky and SIL used Dr. Brown with him. He was a very fussy baby.

Just wanted to resurrect this thread to see if anyone else has opinions on Dr. Brown's bottles.

DH read about them and had to have them, so they're all we use. They're not that troublesome to clean, but it does take a few extra seconds.

DS is pretty gassy - at both ends. I am starting to wonder whether the bottles aren't working for him, or if he'd be propelling himself across the room with gas if we were using different bottles.

we LOVED them for our twins! And my BFF has used them for the past 1.5 yrs for her little one as well.
I think they helped. I still added Mylicon though

I used them with my son, and they were pretty good- the only issue i had with them was the cleaning the long tube and top cap part- it was a bit of a pain in the rear- but if you clean them on time and don't loose them under the couch for a week- it shouldn't be hard ... lol. I think they also leaked into my purse a couple of times when they don't stand up straight, but so do other bottles. This time around I'm using avent bottels thou- they seem just a little easyer with the same effects as dr. brown. But i defenitely liked dr brown bottles so much more than all the other brands (especially over playtex)
