All Newborn size, cost is based on largest package quantity, and before tax. I've tried all 3 brands.

Pampers Swaddlers
Pros: Umbilical cord notch, softest of the lot, most comfortable to wear, anatomically correct fit, has a wetness sensor strip down the center.
Cons: Least absorbent, leaves skin wet if diaper is full
Cost: 24c per diaper

Mom to Mom Supreme
Pros: Most absorbent leaving baby bottom dry even when diaper is full, approx 3 times drier than a Pampers Swaddler!
Cons: Stiff like cardboard, not anatomically correct, fit won't be snug, largest size of the lot (better for bigger built newborns minimum 8+ lbs), some manufacturing defect where 1 velcro tab is longer than the other side's, and purple on the exterior sides will show up under white clothing, and look odd under high-cut onesies.
Cost: 20c per diaper

Parents' Choice
Pros: Cheapest, slightly more absorbent than Pampers Swaddlers, softer than Mom to Mom Supreme but a little stiffer than Swaddlers.
Cons: Does not leave baby bottom dry when full... about same level of moisture wicking as Swaddlers. Smallest of the lot, ideal for smaller built babies, cut is not as snug as Swaddlers but better than M2M.
Cost: 14c per diaper

Conclusion:
Smaller newborns (6 lbs) can use the Parents' Choice.
Larger newborns (8+ lbs) should use Mom to Mom Supreme
Medium newborns (7 lbs) anything goes
Most cost effective = Mom to Mom Supreme, since 1 diaper can hold 3x as much as the others, has superior moisture wicking to keep baby bottom dry therefore less chance of developing diaper rash; you can change diapers less often. Suitable for long road trips or when diaper changing is inconvenient.
Best fit = Pampers Swaddlers. The other 2 brands aren't as anatomically correct, crotch-waist-hip ratio are a little off therefore if you aren't paying attention to adjusting the elastic band and velcro tabs tightly, M2M and PC might leak!!!

Disclaimer: My baby isn't allergic to all 3, your baby may not be the same.

I like how absorbent M2M Supreme diapers are. Baby will fuss the moment he pees/poops once in the Swaddler, but with M2M S, he doesn't even notice he's wet! Amazing!

I like M2M for nightime. I buy them when they are on sale ($7.99) at VON'S/SAFEWAY out here.

Had I known Luvs are made by the same guys who make Pampers (i.e. P&G), I'd have bought them way earlier. No wonder they fit exactly like Pampers do, but at half the price!

Differences:
Luvs are less soft than Swaddlers though still softer than generic store brands, slightly more absorbent as it has a stay-dry blue sheet similar concept to Kotex sanitary napkins, drier top sheet, and a slightly inferior quality loop (hook & loop) closure on the printed cartoon tab in front.

Similarities:
Stretchy velcro tabs, leak guards, subtle scent, true to size.

So essentially Luvs is the economy brand of Pampers :) I get them from Wal-mart, $0.12-$0.13 per piece equivalent.
I use them for daytime, M2M Supreme for overnights.

Here are the brands that worked well for my son.

Pampers - the best, no leaks
Luvs - a good alternative to pampers
Babies r us brand - a good alternative to pampers also

I found Huggies to be absolutely horrible. They leaked something terrible and were loose around the legs. I don't have experience w any other brands.

Any Canadian ladies know if we have M2M here? And where if so? I would love to try them.

I just came across this thread.

I'll let you all know, I have a 4 month old and a 2 yr old (who is about to start potty training but...)

I use Walmart and Target brands.. I would not be caught dead buying Huggies, etc. They are double the price. As long as you are changing your kids' diapers when you're supposed to, these store brands work wonderfully and I NEVER have any problems with them.

I didn't know this about Luvs, no wonder I like 'em!

CVS Supreme (not dry) are also really good but pricey (same as Pampers) but they often have Buy 1 get 1 free and then it's a great deal, 2 packs for $9.99.

I've been trying to get hold of size 1 White Clouds but all Wal-Marts in my area seem to be perpetually out of size 1-4s. And then today I googled "white cloud diaper" only to read this announcement:

Discontinued!

Just adding a few reviews:

I received Earth's Best at my shower and did not like them. They were very thin with funky tabs and baby girl always had leaks with these. I was happy when I finally used them up.

I also received Whole Foods brand diapers and only used one after poop leaked out everywhere. I was able to return all of them with no problem.

We finally bought some Huggies Natural's because they worked so well with my son. Not with my daughter. Again, these leaked out of the sides.

Finally, we are using Kirkland's and for some reason, they are leaking poop on her back! Maybe they are too small? They are a size 1-2 and she weighs 12lbs which I'm pretty sure are within her size. Maybe I'm not diapering her right, lol.

Anyways, I will be trying Pampers next!

Oh snap! I didn't realize Pampers Baby Dry is exactly the same as Luvs at twice the price only with Sesame Street cartoon panel instead of Blue dog. Just bought a pk store didn't have Luvs in the size I wanted. This is daylight robbery!! :(

Ditto. They're similar to the regular Huggies.

Thanks for all the great info! I have my fingers crossed that the newborn Huggies will work for us, as I seem to have them coming out my ears! We got them for the showers, and then opened a big box of unused baby stuff from my SIL and guess what? More newborn Huggies! If they don't work, then I guess I'll donate them?
