Loved Pampers Swaddlers, and I'm so sad DS grew out of them. He is allergic to Pampers Baby Dry, so now we are giving Cruisers a shot. I hope he won't get a rash from these. If he does, I'm going to buy a few bum genius 3.0!

Well, I from what what I recall (DS is now 11!), Pampers were the ones that worked and that we used for DS. One of my friends who had a daughter, suggested Huggies, which we tried, but they leaked. I always wondered whether it was a gender thing (ie. Pampers worked best for boys and Huggies worked best for girls?) I could easily be wrong though!!

Here's a comparison of Pampers Swaddlers, Mom to Mom Supreme (Extra Absorbent version), and Parents' Choice
All Newborn size, cost is based on largest package quantity, and before tax. I've tried all 3 brands. Pampers Swaddlers Pros: Umbilical cord notch, softest of the lot, most comfortable to wear, anatomically correct fit, has a wetness sensor strip down the center. Cons: Least absorbent, leaves skin wet if diaper is full Cost: 24c per diaper Mom to Mom Supreme Pros: Most absorbent leaving baby bottom dry even when diaper is full, approx 3 times drier than a Pampers Swaddler! Cons: Stiff like cardboard, not anatomically correct, fit won't be snug, largest size of the lot (better for bigger built newborns minimum 8+ lbs), some manufacturing defect where 1 velcro tab is longer than the other side's, and purple on the exterior sides will show up under white clothing, and look odd under high-cut onesies. Cost: 20c per diaper Parents' Choice Pros: Cheapest, slightly more absorbent than Pampers Swaddlers, softer than Mom to Mom Supreme but a little stiffer than Swaddlers. Cons: Does not leave baby bottom dry when full... about same level of moisture wicking as Swaddlers. Smallest of the lot, ideal for smaller built babies, cut is not as snug as Swaddlers but better than M2M. Cost: 14c per diaper Conclusion: Smaller newborns (6 lbs) can use the Parents' Choice. Larger newborns (8+ lbs) should use Mom to Mom Supreme Medium newborns (7 lbs) anything goes Most cost effective = Mom to Mom Supreme, since 1 diaper can hold 3x as much as the others, has superior moisture wicking to keep baby bottom dry therefore less chance of developing diaper rash; you can change diapers less often. Suitable for long road trips or when diaper changing is inconvenient. Best fit = Pampers Swaddlers. The other 2 brands aren't as anatomically correct, crotch-waist-hip ratio are a little off therefore if you aren't paying attention to adjusting the elastic band and velcro tabs tightly, M2M and PC might leak!!! Disclaimer: My baby isn't allergic to all 3, your baby may not be the same. |

I tried the parent's choice this week and I they are not good in the newborn size. They are too square and didn't fit good at all.

Pampers Swaddler for size 1 & 2, then Cruisers all the way. I also use Teddy's Choice during the daytime and Pamper's cruiser during the night when my kids sleep thru the night. Cruisers doesn't leak even after 8 hours but Teddy's Choice will leak after 4 or 5 hrs. My kids didn't like Pampers baby dry, had a rash because it has perfume in it and Huggies were too tight for their big chubby thighs =)

Let's just say I'm through with Parents Choice diapers. True, they're square, as in sides are straight there's no cut out for leg room unlike most other brands. Baby is almost outgrowing newborn size, though the whole diaper still fits, the leg parts don't (baby has skinny legs!) and everything leaks dammit! Moreover the top doesn't secure very well. If you have a girl I think it should hold up, if you have a boy he'll pee out of the diaper beware! Yeah they're cheap but I find myself changing more often than Swaddlers, making Swaddlers cheaper to use overall.
I'm sticking with Mom to Mom (Safeway).

The boy vs. girl might be an issue. I've had no issues at all with leaks. I think this thread has shown that not all diapers fit all babies the same way. Also, I never used PC in newborn or size 1, only size 2. I used all my NB, Size 1 Swaddlers from my shower until they ran out.
