I did not care for the diaper genie at all. I ended up just using leftover walmart/grocery sacks to wrap the diaper in, and then we always would just empty the trash daily.

I just put the dirty diaper in a grocery/store bag, tie it and throw it in the trash.

I have to disagree because it sounds like a lot of people who are foregoing the diaper champ (which is what i used and used my own garbage bags) are wrapping each dirty diaper up in a plastic bag which is SO environmentally unsound and is wasting far more plastic, which just makes me cringe. But that is my personal opinion from an environmental standpoint.

but if we already have the plastic bags, at least we find another use for them instead of carrying groceries home and then throwing them away.
The diaper genie bags always got put into yet another plastic bag at my house before I decided it was too much of a hassle.

But you shouldn't have plastic bags! You should be using reusable bags....Tee-hee, just kidding. Well, i'm not because I am very anti-plastic bags, but totally mean the lecture in a joking manner! Seriously though, I didn't use the diaper genie, I used the diaper champ with a regular garbage bag and then emptied it once a week in the beginning - maybe it was twice. Anyway, i just threw it in the garbage can outside when I emptied it. Are diaper genie bags not hefty enough to throw away on their own? I just remember that they were expensive so I didn't go with one of those. I definitely would not be spending money on glorified trash bags

diaper genie was a cesspool, i don't want numerous dirty diapers in the house.

I use the clear plastic bags from the produce that I purchase from the grocery store. I think the diaper genie is environmentally unsound also. I had the diaper champ and never used it.

LOL! I hear ya!

I do my part in other ways. . . . I wish I was better about doing more, but convenience is just so compelling!

Diaper Genie were useful for me when I had DD#1 b/c I was living with the in-laws. But when DD#2 and DS arrived, it became useless b/c DH and I had our own house by the time DD#2 came along. I just bag it and trash it.

I liked the Diaper Champ for upstairs. Too much trouble to run downstairs to the trash in the middle of the night. Also, it sounds gross, but if you have a dog, you want to keep the diapers secure...

This is what we do.

My sil has a diaper genie, but I have read such bad reviews online about it.

We use the diaper dekor and empty it every time the garbage goes out (every other day). It holds as many diapers as you want it to (it's a roll)...just cut the bag when you're ready to discard them and tie the bottom to start another bag. definitely worth the $.
The best part: it's bio-degradable plastic!
