Default Diaper bag suggestions
I'm currently using my Coach laptop bag but it's pretty heavy with not a lot of space. I don't really want to spend too much money on a diaper bag since I know I will be throwing it around. I checked the lesport sac bags since they are light, look durable and easy to clean but it doesn't look like it's all that big. I REALLY don't want some generic and ugly one you can find at toys r us. Any suggestions in which bags you like(d)?

I just got this Kate Spade Diaper Bag off of e*ay. It is brand new with tags, changing pad, 7 slip pockets, one inside zipper pocket, a stroller strap, and a dust bag. It retails for $300 and I got it for $120 (including shipping). I like that it's big - about 15" accross, 12" high and 4" deep (give or take), the handle drop is long too...about 10". It's not real heavy, stylish and a designer bag. I love it!

I HIGHLY SUGGEST GETTING A CHEAPER BAG FIRST. Then, when you know whatcha workin with, knock yourself out.

Because you have no idea how much that bad boy is gonna get tossed around! Seriously! Not just sticky baby fingers grasping, but so many people end up using or handling your bag, such as:

* a nanny/daycare provider
* your SO
* your parents or in-laws
* any siblings
* friends that visit or meet you out

And it will end up:
* on the floor of your car
* on the ground beside your car when you're loading/unloading
* on the ground when you're out at a park, restaurant, store, etc
* the back of your stroller (note: under the drink holder. Nuff said)

And it will have in it (in some variation):
* formula powder and/or mixed formula bottles
* water bottles
* expressed breastmilk bottles
* purell
* Dirty diaper (at some point girl, you will have to do it. Keep ziplocks around)

And this is just the baby stage! LoL You'll also realize what you like... for me, I NEEDED a long messenger with strap, to be able to manage baby and bags and dogs. I didn't have to have a wipe down bag, but I like the idea of patent. Although I know a gal that has spilled her tea on her baby bag 3x. So she def likes a washable bag LoL

Find out what you need... and when you get your head together from the onslaught of new babyhood, you'll know what you want in that designer bag to go with your lifestyle ;-)

Good luck! Congratulations!

These are the diaper bags I own:

Lesportsac Liz
Ju Ju Be Be All
Ju Ju Be Packabe
Ju Ju Be Be Light
Petunia Pickle Bottom Cross Town Clutch
Petunia Pickle Bottom Touring Tote
Built NY diaper bag

Of the above the most often used is the JJB Be All. Why? It just is the perfect size and offers convenience, there's a mommy section for my things so they don't come into contact with baby things, a diaper changing station so everything is in 1 place, insulated bottle pockets, mesh interior pockets, awesome fabric - stainproof waterproof exterior and anti-microbe lining.

I find the LSS Liz pretty useless to be frank. When loaded up it cannot close, the magnets disengage every single time. The mommy section is pretty tiny too, my small trifold wallet cannot fit. But I love their changing pads, it's the longest pad I've seen even compared to other brands I don't own.

Next favorite is the PPB Cross Town Clutch. It's compact and great for evenings out or short trips. All PPB designs and fabric offer that classy stylish look.

I like the Juicy Couture quilted diaper tote too but the only reason I didn't buy was because it's difficult to clean. JJB bags are completely machine washable. Most PPB bags can be wiped clean.

Besides being of perfect size and the ease of cleaning, the other reason I prefer JJB and PPB bags over others is the second hand resale value. Both can be resold for nearly as much as what I've initially paid brand new. There is a huge demand for used bags of both brands. LSS Liz close to $10 (original price $169!!), and Juicy Couture about 30-50% of the original price.

Right now PPB bags are on sale on their company website. www.petuniaoutlet.com ending soon.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Fishfood - I already have a child and I totally know how much abuse the bag will take!

Niffer - that looks really cute but I doubt I will be able to get that bag for a decent price.

HC - I saw the Stella line but wasn't able to view the designs. I'm gonna got to the mall tomorrow to check out leSport sac

Bohol - never heard of the jujube line, I'm definatley gonna check it out.

Boho, just checked out their site and I have to say I am pretty impressed. Quick question: can you fit a full size wallet in the mommy section?

Yes you can but it may stick out horizontally if your wallet is thick. For that matter you can try their Packabe it's got some depth in the mommy section. If your wallet is thin no problem. I put my wallet inside one of the mesh pockets in the main section of the Be All.

I'm using the LeSportSac Large Weekender, it's light but way to large (not that large according to DH) so I was fed up with it being so bulky (but it holds everything from double bottle warmer to pillows, blankets, bolster, toys) and bought the Medium Weekender yesterday. I love the zip top, shoulder strap, 4 exterior pockets and I can dump it into the machine to wash! Get dark coloured straps - black/dk grey/blue/brown instead of light coloured ones.

Also have a Damier Neverfull GM but I hate the fact that it's so heavy after putting all DS's stuff!

Get a lightweight with lots of exterior zippers, zip top and machine washable! Good luck!

At the moment, since DD is still small, I dump everything in the Bugaboo since there's still a lot of space in the carry cot and storage bag. Sometimes, I also use my LV Neverfull MM.

Right now there's a sale on a Kate Spade diaper bag - it's $243, and there's 25% off sale items right now. In the Deals & Steals section, there's a link to an extra 20% off items in your cart, so the total price is less than $150. And there's free shipping! I bought the same bag for my sister-in-law, and she loves it!

I need to be able to rummage through the diaper bag and see everything at once -- none of the vertical stacking for me... a duffel size like the Le SportSac Weekender or a secondhand LV keepall will do the job and still look fashion forward. I've been wanting to get the Keepall for a long time now since I still need to carry stuff for the family.

For years I used a rather unusual bucket bag called the Howda Bag. It looks like a cross between a painter's bucket and military bag and it was fantastic, on shoulder, over stroller bar. It works great, but doesn't look too fashionable.
