Oooo I just finally found this thread.

I am the proud mom of multiples! It's sooo sweet being a mommy of two little girls. Double the kisses, double the fun! And double the adorable dresses and shoes!!

I found out I was preggers with twins really early on. I guess the practice at my ob/gyn's office is to do the vaginal u/s on the first visit at 8 weeks. So when my OB showed us this blurry, beating heart, I squealed with delight and even laughed a little. Then when she said, "get ready to laugh again" my OB panned to the other baby! Crazy!

The pregnancy went well for the most part. I went to see chiropractor early on and that helped me carry the twins a little easier. I was gestational diabetic, so poking my finger for blood and not eating sweets was not fun. At least however I didn't need to take insulin, so I guess I was lucky in that respect.

I had a scheduled induction at 37 weeks because by then, the top of my uterus was so high it was literally hitting my boobs! I was given pitocin, had my water bag popped, practiced my breathing, got the epidural, and before the doctor could even have lunch, I was giving birth after only 5 hours of labor. It was insane. Didn't even needed a C-section surprisingly but I needed two stitches and damn those hurt!

So that was my birthing story. Have no idea how it's going to go down next time I get preggers, but I can't wait to find out!

I have a twin sister, and I also have twin brothers, and my mom lost a set at 6 months. We are waiting to see which of our children will be the lucky ones that carry that on. I so hope it is my children.

I have fraternal twin boys who are 2 years 2 months old today. My pregnancy was lousy--10 weeks of bedrest including 7 weeks of hospital bedrest--but having twins is fabulous. I wouldn't change it for anything.

Most importantly, one son is currently fascinated with Mommy's purses. Almost every day he goes into my closet and picks out a purse to carry around. He usually grabs my trusty Hogan hobo. Now there's a boy with style!

Aw, great thread . I am a proud mum of two-and-three-quarter year old twin girls (fraternal)- Geminis too Swanky, so i think almost exactly a year younger than your two boys. I am so happy I had twins- it is like a fast track family.

The first year and a half passed in a flash, I don't think I stopped for breath- but that suits me, I am one of those people that do best under pressure. I have noticed that mothers I know who had one child when I had my twins seem to be much more aware of tiny little details of their child's developement than I was with my girls. For the first 6 months each day I had to write down every bottle and nap that they each had, to keep track: Half an hour after feeding them I had no idea how much each had eaten/ who had eaten what... And when it got to night time feeds- without these lists I wouldn't have had a clue who had been up when during the night . I still have a couple of these notebooks with pages and pages of these notes. My Dad (their Grandad) told me to keep one each for the girls, for when they are older, as an insight into their earliest routines.

My girls are great friends. I love the fact that my two children have each other- a permanent companion, who is experiencing life at exactly the same stage.

I have 10 year old fraternal twin sons. It took me 3 years and lots of procedures and drugs to have them. They are absolute polar opposites! I always say that Max is John Candy reincarnated and will be the one in college w/ the Hawaiin shirt doing beer funnels and Ben will be the one driving the campus patrol car arresting him LOL!!

I knew a pair of identical twin brothers who were night and day...one was the valedictorian, the other one the school athlete. One brother would tell the other to buckle down to his studies and you'd hear the other one tell him to get lost.

Let's get to know each other a little better!

Mine are just over 3 yrs old now, they're frat boys
I found out VERY early because we were trying hard to conceive. So as soon as I got a positive HPT my OB had me come in to confirm.
We did a vaginal U/S and there were 2 little blinking heart beats there
I was SO excited!
We actually sort of thought we might have twins for some reason.

Here's my fun facts:
DH is Italian
We were in Italy traveling whle I was ovulating, we just arrived in Rome when I had my 'surge' so I made DH, well, you know!
We were SOOOO tired as we had traveled on the bullet train all afternoon, but it couldn't wait!
Fast forward 8 months, my boys are born, sign of Gemini which is the sign of twins.

So I conceived twin boys in Rome, the city founded by twin brothers w/ my Italian DH and they born in the Gemini sign. . . .
it was written in the stars for us!

Cheeseball? Absolutely, but most of us Mommies are pretty cheesy when it comes to our offspring!
I also have an amzing 6 yr old little girl who has me pretty mesmerized
I don't have twins, but I wandered in here anyway! Swanky, I just wanted to say that your fun facts brought a tear to my eye! That's quite an amazing story and will be fun to share with your boys when they get older! I have a 3 year old son who pretty much has me wrapped around his finger! They are so much fun! I can't even remember life before him! Your boys are soooo adorable!!

i'm bumping this up cause we just found out we're having twins. it happened naturally so it was very shocking. the doc said they will probably come early. sounds like 37 weeks for a couple of you. so they will probably be born in march.

i will find out in november what i'm having. did any other moms of multiples have a hard time determining the sex? i was wondering if it is harder for them to see cause they'll both be smashed in there. but i guess around 20 weeks they're still pretty small.

First of all your boys are BEAUTIFUL Swanky!!!
I am not a twin (that I know of ) But I have twin aunts who are identical (everyone swears they look EXACTLY the same, but they don't to me!! My grandmother also gave birth to my aunts at full term (40 weeks) My aunt Connie weighed 5lbs 11oz and my aunt Colleen weighed 6lbs 8 oz!!) My Great Great Grandmother had two sets of twins and one set of triplets, altogether she had 19 children. My Grandmother's aunt had one set of twins, and her daughter had one set of triplets. Needless to say, multiples run in my family!! They also run in my SO's side (well, his dad's side) I have always hoped to have twins someday!! Two for the price of one!! hehe! (well kind of)

Yes, winniejo, at 20 weeks, any baby would be lucky to weigh 1lb. and be 10 inches long.

The midwife doing our detailed scan, at about 18 weeks I think, was easily able to see it was 2 girls. Though I think occasionally one baby can obscure the other and that can make it hard to tell.

no, no truth as far as I've read about skipping generations.
Congrats Congrats winnie! I don't know any Moms of multiples who had any trouble determining gender.

i've just read that your chances for twins increases if your mother or your mother's mother was a twin.
