I'm looking for some good
-games -prizes -favors -activities and any other thing you can think of... so far I've got the idea of a book well instead of baby shower cards...but how do I ask for that in the invitation....or is that rude to do? one activity i was thinking of was plain white onesies, and having people paint and decorate them, for maybe a contest--has anyone does this and can give me more info on what to buy, etc any other ideas?

for my shower we had yankee candles as favors. I ordered them from their website and they were so cute! Some games are taking either a ball of yarn or a roll of toilet paper and people cut a piece and then wrap it around the pregnant woman's belly and whoever comes closest without going over wins a prize. They also do whoever's birthday is closest to the womans due date wins a prize as well. A big hit was diaper cakes as well as decorations for the party. I made my own, but you can definitely order them online as well. Another one is that everyone starts off with a sticker or something and whoever hears another person use the word baby gets to take that person's sticker, at the end of the party whoever has collected the most stickers wins a prize! Just some things I could think of

Someone on here recommended to me to do a game where you guess the number of candies in a baby-themed vase - like a glass baby booty or something. So I'm going to look for blue jelly beans or something. Thats the only "game" I'm playing at my shower!

I was at a shower and I thought this was a cute idea...they bought little tiny baby figurines (so you can fit them into small dixie cups) and then put water into the dixies and froze them. The first one to thaw out at the shower wins a prize!
At my cousin's shower, she had beach towels as favors and wrote something like, "What's a shower without a towel?" on a ribbon and attached it to the towel. It made sense since her shower was in the summer and down the shore... |

i made a game of 'pin the diaper on the baby' i drew the baby and the diapers using illustrator and then used sticky tac to 'pin' the diapers. everyone had a turn, they got blind folded and then they tried to get the diaper as close as possible. how ever was the closest got a prize.
you can also have safety pins in a bowl of rice and have them close their eyes and try to get as many pins out of the rice as possible. the winner gets a prize. just a few ideas... |

My cousin had a baby and we didn't want to plan those games so we bought onesies for every one and all different types of markers, paints, glitter, and other art supplies and decorated them. We had food and drinks through out the decorating time and when we were finished the host picked the winners. The categories for the onesies were most colorful, most creative, most related to the mom (for instance decorated in the college theme the mom went to, or pictures of what she does for a living, etc.), and there were a few more categories but I can't remember. It ended up being tons of fun!!The mom took home all the onesies and plans on her son wearing a few of them.
I made the one with the trains and my aunt made the animal one. |

The host purchased onesies in all different sizes and long-sleeved ones, so we had a variety to choose from.

I love the onesie decorating idea ! At my friend's sister's baby shower they played baby bingo so whenever something was opened like a teddy bear, bottle, book etc if you had that on your sheet (you made the sheets yourself) then you would get a prize. She also made everyone make a baby out of I thought was chewing gum but it was probably playdoh and people got prizes for the cutest one. I will email her and ask her what other games there were, I forgot but it was a lot of fun. You can get everything you need at a craft place like Michaels and prizes you can get at a dollar store.

I remember a two fun games from my friends baby shower.
1. Dress the baby: you get a bunch of dolls (cabage patch works well) and give each pair a full set of clothing (diaper, top, pants). The person who is dressing the baby is blindfolded and their partner hands them the clothes and tells them what it is. The first fully dressed baby wins. 2. Feed the baby: This is another game of partners, you have one blind folded and another not. The blind folded person tries to feed baby food (apple sauce) to their partner. First team to finish wins. I've also heard of but not played a third game. "Guess the mess" is what I would call it. Get some mini-size candy bars and put them on the inside of a diaper, microwave them until the candy melts. During the party people guess what candy bar is in the diaper. The person who guesses the most correctly wins. For decorations, the party planners hung a clothes line full of new baby clothes they were giving the Mommy-to-be using old fashioned push pins. They also made a diaper cake out of the infant diapers they bought for the parents. |

Reading through this made me think of a post from the Crafts sub forum. You can see the thread created by imashopaholic here:
http://forum.purseblog.com/arts-and-crafts/nappy-diaper-cake-with-pics-step-step-instructions-414861.html And this picture is from imashopaholic's thread -- how cute is this and she gives instructions with pictures on how to make it. Plus she was saying how easy it is to make it more personal to the mom-to-be!
