Does anyone else have the same problem as me with the avent bottles leaking? I've been trying to get my DD on the bottle by giving it to her 2x/day (so she can practice and not forget)...
But the avent bottles are so leaky! And sometimes she sucks and I don't see air bubbles come up. I don't know if she is having difficulty sucking or if she is just being finicky when she's fussy with the bottle! There are times she will take it just fine and other times I can't get her to drink more than 1 ounce before she becomes totally hysterical! |

they're notorious for this. I learned not to over tighten and to wet the neck - where the top screws on helped some.

Snowbrdgrl, you're like the 10th person I've heard this from in the past 2 days! I had the Avent Ventaire bottles for my 1st 4 years ago, and was going to use them again, but from what I'm reading I'm not going to touch them. We've been using Medela bottles since we got home, and they've been working great so far- think we might just get more of those.

I've been reading about the ventaire bottles leaking and all I can say is I must be the lucky one with these bottles!! I used them with both my kids and never had any leaks or issues with them.

They were the best bottles EVER when my 13 year old was a baby-we loved them so much we traveled over 50 miles to buy more because only one place had them-we used the sippie attachment on them for quite a few more years and they held up wonderfully, no leaks. I had a baby in 2007 and tried new ones and hated them, they leaked so much. They did something to the design to ruin them.

I called Avent yesterday and complained, and they are sending me a few new styled ones to try. They said if they are better I can send them the ones I have and they will replace them all for me with the new ones... I hope they end up being better!
By the way, they only make the 9 oz ones now, not the 4 oz... (per CS).... Wish me luck! |

My little boy is (3) and I remember when I stopped breast feeding and started using them I hated them for that reason, it was so annoying. I started usuing platex bottles and loved them and so did my son especially when I had the "Natural Flow" nipples on them.

OMG, I HATED avent bottles soooo much when DS was a baby. Playtex nursers were great in the beginning for Lily but we've switched to regular evenflo plastic ones for now....

I googled this online and found a technique someone described to prevent the leakage. Tried it today and it worked (aligning the air vents/holes to the fins on the ring) and wetting the ring where it screws onto the bottle. DD took bottle and sucked all 4 oz with no problem (and I could see/hear the little air bubbles coming up so it sounded like it was venting properly)... anyhoo will see how the replacement bottles work... not sure what's new about the design!
I know alot of other bottles are really good but I really don't want to spend alot of $$$ replacing all the bottles I bought! |

Ive heard that about Avent bottles leaking as well - thats a bummer. I have to at least give them credit for having such good customer service though. I found them to be exceptionally more helpful than about 99% of companies out there these days.

i had issues with all my avent bottles leaking too. so annoying! i really don't want to switch brands either bc with twins, i have about 20 of these bottles and as you all know...they are $$$$! DH said he figured out a way to prevent this from happening though. he said before screwing the top on, push down until you hear a snap and then twist. i haven't tried it myself but haven't seen any leaks with the bottles that DH has done.

I use Avent bottles too...if you ever get milk or water in the neck area, wipe it first before screwing on the ring. Also, when I heat up the milk in hot water, I would release the ring and re-tight it. After, the bottles never leaked and was fine!!! HTH ...
