As the mother of two premature babies, my advice to let nature take its course and have the baby when the baby is ready.
I know it's difficult to be pregnant at your stage but, honestly, I would have given anything to make it to term. Best Wishes. |

I know you're really uncomfortable and it's hard to wait, but I really urge you to hang in there. Induction is pretty hard on your body (it wasn't ready to have the baby yet, after all.) A lot of my friends who had inductions ended up with c-sections, as did I.
There have been some studies that show even a week or two early can cause problems for baby (example: http://www.columbusdispatch.com/live...I.html?sid=101). A lot of them focus on c-sections, which of course have their own set of complications, but it really seems like an extra week or even days can make a big difference. |

talk to your doc for sure. it's your body and you only know the amount of pain you are in.
i was induced with my 1st son for medical reasons. i was then induced with #2 and #3 by choice. i was 38 wks with each of them and i had a vaginal delivery with each of them. they were all healthy and fine. i was so happy to be induced, i was absolutely miserable and run down. i was exhausted and just so over being pregnant. for me is was the best choice i made. GL! |

These types of posts make me very upset...
You are only at 36 weeks and your baby is not ready to come out yet! Your baby needs to "bake" as long as possible to ensure that there will be no complications after the birth. I know that you are uncomfortable, but this isn't about you it's about the health and wellbeing of your baby. Sorry, induction is a VERY sensitive subject for me...especially when people do it out of convenience!!! |

my understanding, there is no way that you would be able to get induced at 36 weeks unless there are medical conditions. none of my doctors would do it until after the 38 wk mark. so you still have 2 wks that you have to wait for sure.

In another post, I mentioned I am a labor and delivery nurse and a postpartum nurse. Induction of labor is generally not performed until 39 weeks unless there is a medical indication. Induction of labor is also determined upon the readiness of the cervix. This is an uncomfortable time during pregnancy. Taking hot showers can help with any discomfort or laying on your side with pillows behind your back and in between your knees. Why not treat yourself to a massage at a luxurious spa? :)

Thank you all for your responses. I do agree about letting nature take it's course, as I mentioned with my first pregnancy I waited til 41 wks to be induced. I also know that at 36 wks I cannot be induced but I wanted to see how early women do get induced, which I guess is at 38 wks. I didn't mean to make anyone upset by posting this topic but it's the only place for me to get some real responses from those who have gone through it.
