Yes, I failed the 1-hr glucose test and passed on 3-hrs glucose test. If you fail on 3-hrs test again, you need to withdraw blood daily to monitor sugar level. I was fortunate enough to passed the 3hrs one, but my friend had to withdraw blood daily and take meds to control sugar level.

I just wanted to respond to my own comment. I took the 1 hour test Monday and passed with a negative. I just wanted to post what I did the day before and day of the test to maybe help someone else from getting a false positive. I didn't hardly eat any sugar the day before and no soft drinks the day before. The day of the test, I ate 1 banana nut muffin and drank water only. I took the test at around 10 am.

I've failed the 1 hour and 3 hour w/my 1st and had gestational diabetes. Controlled it w/diet and meds and I exercised regularly. It's strange how it's just predetermined...with my 2nd one I had no diabetes and passed all the tests and didn't exercise and was already about 10lbs overweight at the time, oh and 'advanced maternal age' too, so go figure!

Don't sweat it, after your pregnancy your stuck with this baby and then you start freaking out all over again!

PHEW!!! I passed all four blood tests during the 3hour. I was really franctic about it. High blood pressure and GD are not a good mix! At least one obstacle has been hurdled. Now just 11 weeks to go!

Yep, I failed the 1 hour test. I blame it on the sugary lemonade from work and having pizza right before bed. Took the second one and passed!

With my second pregnancy, I failed both the 1 hour and 3 hour, but many women pass the 3-hour. I was devastated when I heard about having GD, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. In fact, after following the nutritionist's instructions on proper diet and exercise, I ended up being in the BEST shape of my life during that pregnancy. Sometimes I think getting GD was a good thing, because it taught me a lot about the power of a proper diet and exercise routine. My baby was born healthy and I'm still at a good weight now, 3 1/2 years later.

Oh and FYI, my OBGYN said there was nothing I could eat or do to "trick" the 3-hour test and pass. She said you either have GD or you don't, and the test will show it.

First pregnancy: failed one hour test but passed three hour test.
Second pregnancy: passed one hour test so three hour test unnecessary.

As far as tricking the test, I agree it can't be tricked to pass. But it seems from all the responses on here, it can be "tricked" to fail with all the false positives. My doctor said eating a lot of sweets before the test can give a false positive, thats why I avoided sugar.
