DS will be one year old in 2 weeks and he can crawl as fast as I can walk, but he looks like he is nowhere near walking, by the way he holds his feet when he pulls himself up. He's not cruising at all, and he will not stay in his walker. I keep him on the floor a lot and he plays with DD and I am thinking that one day he'll up and walk just to keep up with her. I know all children are different, but my DD was walking at 8 1/2 months. I was wondering if anyone else here experienced a child that was a late walker. Or is my DS even considered a late walker? I'm mentioning it to his pediatrician when we go for his visit in 3 weeks, but was curious to know if any tpf'ers have late walkers too.

I definitely don't think that your DS would be classified as a late walker at 12 months old! Every baby is different!! I have known babies who are 18 months old and just started walking. Wow-your DD was walking at 8.5 months? God bless you! So, you know to cherish this time (that DS is not walking!)

My daughter didn't walk until 12 months old. I know a lot of babies that don't start walking until after 12 months old. I don't think your boy is late...I think your girl was early!!
They are both so adorable! |

Your DS isn't a late walker, and your DD was an early walker at 8.5 months. I wouldn't worry about it. DD didn't walked until 13 months.

I think up to 15 months is so called "normal." I think everyone is different and it will happen when it is supposed to :)

DD didn't walk until the week after her 1st birthday. She was pulling herself up (using furniture or whatever else was handy) for weeks but hadn't actually taken her first steps until after she turned 1. Now, at 21 months, I find it hard to keep up with her! Lol...
Your DS is just fine! |

12 months isn't late at all, as everyone said! The average age is 11 months, so that's well within the normal range. 8.5 was really early for your DD.
My DS didn't walk until 14 1/2 months. He'd been walking with a walker, or holding one hand of ours for about 4-5 months, but would not walk on his own. The funny part was, once he decided to walk, there was literally one day that he fell down. Day 2 he was off and running. He walks faster and more steadily than all my friends' kids who started way before him! |

Anything between 9-18 months is considered normal range. Mine were 15 mths, 16 mths, and 2 @ 11 mths when they started walking. Everybody is different.

My 2 DD's started walking at 14 & 15 months. But my DS was my late walker. He was cruising around the house from the time he was 10 months old but didn't start walking by himself until he was 19 months old.
