My 6 month old DS has been sick for 2 weeks already (this is week 3). I took him to the dr. twice. The first time, they said it was a chest cold /infection and gave him antibiotics. We finished the antibiotics, then it came back worse than ever. This weekend he was so miserable! He is so congested, warm feeling and tired. Took him to the urgent care again yesterday. They checked him for ear infections-nothing. They did the nose swab for the flu test-negative. They looked in his throat-fine. They then thought it was an early case of RSV. They gave him breathing treatments in the office and his airways opened up so much afterwards that they didn't think it was necessary to send me home w/ the machine to continue breathing treatments so I am giving him decongestant drops only. He went down for bed at 7pm last night and slept straight through until 8am this morning. It is now almost 3:30 here and he has been asleep all but 3 hours since he work up this morning (he is asleep right now). I realize that sleeping helps the body recover but I am getting a little concerned. He is not lathargic when he is awake, he is actually in pretty good spirits, he just rubs his eyes when he gets tired and down he goes for a nap. Should I be worried? We have another check up appt tomorrow morning....

Awww....sorry to hear he isn't feeling well. He's probably sleeping cuz that's what his body needs to re-cooperate and fight whatever it is that is causing him to be sick. Do you think the breathing treatment affected him somehow? If you already have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, I would definitely mention it... My daughter sleeps like that on a normal basis though!! She goes down around 8:30-9pm, wakes up around 7am....naps from 10:30am til about 1:30pm!! Then another nap at like 5pm for an hour. When she's awake, she's as happy as can be but she's like me: she needs a lot of sleep. If it isn't your son's "normal" routine, then definitely mention it to the doctor.

^^ He does sleep around 11 hours a night but his daytime naps are quite a bit shorter. His mood today is definitely alert and healthy but I will still mention it to the dr. Thanks!
