All the designers try to monitor ebay. I'm sure you're aware that Chanel and LV won a lawsuit against evilbay. Fakes still get through, but believe it of not, it used to be worse.

Ebay does send you back a response, if you report it. I've never received a response telling me I should contact the owner. Are you referring to a situation where a replica handbag was purchased, or reporting a fake bag?But in my experience, they usually take the listing down.

OOps should be Hermes and LV not Chanel.

I got this as part of a reply to a report I had made about a really ugly and obvious counterfeit on ebay. As you see it refers to the Rights Owner and the VERO program. My query is how does anyone notify the Rights Owner to be able to alert them to fakes. As you saw a few posts ago, I received a photo of the inside of a fake Prada purse. Because this seller is cunning enough to not put photos on the listing, it is impossible to get ebay to take any action to remove the fake. If anyone buys this fake (at $300 or $500 BIN) then it's a lot of money to lose on a fake. And they wouldn't know it was fake until they received it. By that time some sellers will have taken the money and disappeared - especially like this one who is a 0 feedback seller. In a perfect situation any prospective buyer will, like me, ask for photos, and make the right judgement. But I'm sure there are many situations where buyers have not known what to look for and have been duped completely. My point is that anyone who knows that something is fake should have somewhere other than ebay to report it to help stop this sort of seller. Pardon my ramble!!

"In some cases, we refer the information to the owner of the rights

Although you may be extremely knowledgeable about these types of items, we often cannot remove items upon the representations of third parties whose credentials we cannot verify, unless of course the alleged infringement is obvious on its face.

That is why we strongly urge you to notify the rights holder of the
suspected infringement and encourage them to join our Verified Rights
Owners (VeRO) Programme. This programme enables them to request the
ending of allegedly infringing listings."

Hello ladies,

Not sure if I should ask this problem here. I'm back again for this fake Prada tote lol
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...UPIRPN:US:1123

So few minutes ago I just got an alert: Unpaid Item case is open. I have sent the seller two messages before & after the auction and asked her to remove my bid because authenticity problem, but she didn't respond my messages. Now I got an alert, so should I respond her the same thing? Or can I just tell eBay "The bag is fake according to TPF." Do I have to prove it?

TIA

Ah if you make an offer and they have set the computer to accept it at a certain amount, the bag's yours. I don't think you'll be disappointed, I think it's a TDF handbag and the price is fantastic. And I'm not usually a push lock fan.

Thx a lot, now i feel happy and u girls helped to me. When i will get this bag I will send some pic to u.

well, first off, don't pay and report it to ebay but i wouldnt mention TPF. write her another email saying the bag is fake and you reported it to ebay and you're not going to pay. she cant leave you a negative anyway. so, that should suffice for now...

Sit tight. I'm working on something to hopefully, quickly solve your problem. Don't reply to anything until you check back here in a day or so. I promise you that's a fake bag.

Time for a sermon again:

I hate to sound bitchy, people, but PLEASE authenticate BEFORE bidding!!! If you've found tPF and this thread after bidding and didn't know about us before you bid, we forgive you. But speaking as a seller on eBay, I know I'd be furious if someone bought something of mine and then asked for a refund. Obviously, I never sell knock-offs, but some sellers don't know they have a counterfeit (remember our own Simple_Life?).

It's really simple: Authenticate first. Bid second.

We may all have our own take on this, but I don't find it my responsibility to be the copyright authority of Prada or any designer handbag. That is the responsibility of the rights owner. You buy at Ebay at your own risk and hopefully Rosemary and PP can help to make sure that replica handbags are not purchased. They go above and beyond the call of duty. I monitor the authenticate sites frequently just to make sure that when my bags are up for sale via consignment, that they are not being labeled fake.

Heck all the designers know that their products are being sold on Ebay and if they don't want to police it, it's certainly not the responsibility of individual owners. I do report bags I don't think are authentic, but forwarding it to Prada??-- No, not for me.

I'm sure none of you are aware, but since LV won their court case, large volume sellers of LV via ebay and consignment shops have been banned from purchasing their items in the boutiques or department stores.

Many of the sellers received letters from LV corporate, in a nutshell telling them that they do not approve of them making a profit selling their label--they want to be the only sellers of their label. And they have been banned from purchasing LV products. I saw the letter myself, and know a seller who tried to purchase a small LV item at Saks, to test it out. And when she used her CC, name came up banned from buying products.

How long do you think it will be before other designers do the same thing? I know it's crazy because it's a good cycle for them. Sell bag to buy more expensive bag from same line, but that's what happened.

It's all just food for thought.
