thanks

sophiac, yes it is a waterproofing spray, and yes it will help protect the bag from dirt marks. Different waterproofing sprays are for different materials. The collonil discussed here is this one. A waterproofing spray doesn't give nourishment to the leather, it just helps to protect it. Yes, you can use it on black bags as well, but it's not as important as with Mulberry oak bags since water won't leave that kind of marks on black bags. I always spray my black leather shoes and bag though, to prolong their life.

Do you think that I will need to spray my purple patent mabel with this? I would think that the patent makes it waterproof already

I don't have a patent, but probably not a good idea. I can imagine that it absorbs neither water nor waterproofing spray.

Just wanted to share the advice I got from the manager at Bicester. 'Spray your new (darwin/natural leather) bag weekly for the first 4 weeks and then every couple of months after that'. They don't guarantee it will prevent all watermarks but any marks should blend into the patina with time.

^^^^^^^^ Thanks for that Jo!!! Seems like sound advice actually, build up a good 'skin' if you will. I think scratches and marks just blend into the patina in time, certainly has done with mine, and now a couple of the older ones have a really rich glossy patina, they don't seem to mark hardly at all, unless its a real klonk or something!!

When I bought my bag here in Stockholm the salesperson rekommended the Collonil nanopred spray and thats what they were selling. Wondering why. Have the waterstop been replaced, or is she simply wrong?

What sort of leather is your bag? Maybe if it is not Darwin or Natural leather this other spray is better.

Sorry - just realised you may be talking about your Bayswater which would be Darwin or Natural leather - they still make the Waterstop because that is what I used. (Actually I sprayed my Roxy, Bays and Effie today and I think I'm high as a kite on the fumes!!!!).

It is a darwin leather Bayswater. That's why I began to wonder now when I saw this thread.

I have used the nanopred and I can't se any colorchange or anything like that. Do you think something happens If I try to treat it with waterstop spray, now when I have used another spray first?
