Going to try and spend as little of my grant as I can though so i can pay off my loan quicker.

I had a look through that thread, thanks! I think I'm going to go down that route. A friend bought a sub Bays at Bicester for a lot less than at Bond St. and it was only something that cost her £2 to fix. I'll have to ring up Bicester before I leave to make sure they've got what I want, do you know if they put things by if you're definitely going to buy the bag?
Even better, living at home! My younger sister moved back to my parents after university and she has saved so much money! You're a girl with a sensible head on you I wish I had been more like that when I was 18 (and sometimes even now)!

Your friend got a great deal What was the problem with it?

It's worth checking the outlets thread in the Mulberry shopping sub-forum and keeping an eye out on what subs they have but at the moment, the lovely Mooshooshoo, who calls round all the outlets to get their stock lists, is having trouble with getting info from them. The Bicester one is ok though, they seem to be giving Moo the information at the moment, but it's worth calling Bicester anyway. I'm really excited for you, Lauren!

Thoughts please, were thinking in our hols, of making an overnight stay in Somerset so I can visit the Mulberry factory shop ( husband, son, and dog are happy to mooch somewhere else for an hour or two )

Thing is were in Kent so its nearly three housr drive, I have never been to an outlet or factory shop, is it worth while? ...
We have never been to Somerset, so will all enjoy this even though a short stay... But do wonder if the trip worth it? as it is really so I can visit this shop.
Be grateful for your thoughts please

Hi everyone first post, first online purchase, freaking out! I was interested in the Small Heritage Baywater Satchel in fudge high pebbled matt but it had sold out. Went back to look tonight and had one in stock, managed to purchase it but am wondering what the maintenance is like and how easily marked the leather is. Have looked at the leather guides but was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I am a Mulberry virgin and my heart is still beating fast from the purchase. Typing this quickly as my husband walks the dog!!!

I've been to the Shepton mallet outlet several times. It's lovely there. The staff are friendly and helpful, there's a large selection of bags, purses, clothes etc. There's even a cute little coffee shop in the back of the outlet

You sound like me with my boyfriend :) Like DP, I can't help but fudge is a little lighter than oak. It's a very versatile colour and will go with e erythema. I suggest Collonil Waterstop to help waterproof it and make it more resistant to marks. As it's a lighter colour, you may need to be careful of colour transfer from clothes, especially jeans - other ladies may be able to advice for the fudge in particular. You will get a care card with your Heritage, which will give you a bit of advice, or you could call Mulberry customer service to see what they have to say about the fudge pebbled matt in particular.

I got caught in some of the rain with my oak Cookie bays today but only from the carpark to the office and vice versa. I did have a brolly and some rain got onto my bays but it was more like raindrops sitting on top and I was just able to brush them off with a tissue. Very happy to see Collonil working, but I would generally try to avoid taking lighter colours out in the rain - too scared to take the risk!

Hi everyone.

First post too.

I have just purchased a Tillie in the sale in Oak, but really couldn't decide between that and Nightshade blue.

Does anyone know how the two colours compare? I was thinking the nb would show scratches more but it might be better with watermarks.

I also have a lot of black coats - do you think the nb would look OK against the black.

Sorry for the questions - am just not sure whether to exchange for the nb version.

Hi Polly, if you search the forum for Shepton Mallet you'll find lots of comments - as a starter here's my experience

You just don't know what you're going to find - which is a good thing (because you might walk away with an unexpected total bargain) but also a bad thing (because if you go with something particular in mind, you could well be disappointed).

I'm one of those nutty people who doesn't mind driving long distances if there's somewhere I really want to visit (often make the 3 hour round trip to Bicester) so you shouldn't just take my opinion - but I'd go for it! A short break in the area would be lovely.

I was told that the blue would show scratches easily...not sure about the oak. If I'm right in thinking if the leather is the same it will probably scratch too

Yeah - I think I'll stick with the oak. I did ring the Mulberry shop and they did have the nb but said it had a big scratch on it, but then told me that she'd managed to buff it out. Mmmm.

Thanks for your welcome designpurchaser

Thanks Cupcake2008 for your advice. Popped into HofF today and by chance they had a heritage in fudge in. Was darker than I thought which was good. The sales assistant told me I obviously need to spray and that there's always the risk of colour displacement from jeans. So am still undecided. Also the fastening where the straps go are a bit fiddly and I'm not sure if that'll drive me crazy. They'll probably loosen with time but I'd probably end up not fastening them. Aaargh! Or shall I get the black or oak small bayswater satchel and not be so worried when I use it. I have never spent so much on a bag and want to get it right. I keep trying to justify it in my head, you'd think as I'm in my 40's I'd be able to by now!
