But you still manage to get hold of Mulberry & LV bags, and what about that gorgeous H Pendant!?

Perhaps we should all move together to live on an island for rehab.

Are we going to leave our bags behind? Otherwise the massive influx of bags might sink the island!

Oh god me too - I have moths and those crane fly things!

Mind you I have some strange phobias - the worst ones being Balloons and Peacocks! Absolutely hate the things, both of them.

As for my bag thing - I've always been into shoes and bags. Shoes from a very early age. Apparently, you know some shoe shops have those baskets of shoes outside? - well when I was little, I used to sit on the pavement outside the shop and I would not move until I had tried on every single shoe in the basket!

My 'thing' for designer bags didn't start until I put on weight really! Then I just thought that a) bags always fit and you don't have to go through the horror of trying them on and getting a bigger size! and b) if you have a nice bag, people are too busy looking at the bag to notice you. Deflection!

Its probably a bit of an status thing too - I've got a terrible inferiority complex so I think having expensive designer bags makes me as good as everybody else! Very much "keeping up with Jones" type thing! But heh - at least I'm honest!

I am going to use Angelica this weekend and am *shock horror* using a non Mulberry at work today. My step may have been less springy but all my stuff got to my desk considerably cheaper!

So true! Mind you, I tend to only buy my bags in person now which means that I only buy about 3 a year now (I won't buy LV from anywhere other than an LV store) because it means that I only buy when I visit London which isn't very often.

I try not to buy without seeing now, even though you can return things, so it means that I don't really buy from the outlets over the phone.

I did buy my Hermes pendant online but only because none of the London stores had it! Also, I need to have Hubby's permission to buy anything over the phone or online because he's the only one with a Credit Card - I'm not allowed one!!! Its much safer that way.

If I add up what I've spent on Mulberrys this year, I could actually have bought a pre loved Lindy....that's depressing.

I think I need to use my Mulberrys and if I haven't used something in a year then out it goes and any spare cash is going in a jar marked Lindy!

Jewellery is another good one for this game - I have a lot of silver Bedouin and Indian stuff. Deflection!

My family were as poor as church mice when I was a kid and I was dressed in head to foot jumble sale but I didn't really mind.
Red bits above also mine.

What fun to confess!

I'm the same with the weight thing. Started when I was pregnant and couldn't buy clothes and then I'd gained so much weight after both babes that I still couldn't buy nice clothes coz I was always going to lose weight. Bags always fit though don't they! Mind you, now I've finally lost the weight its clothes AND bags now!

Bags, clothes (but I am very good at TKMAXXing them) and ethnic jewellery. I had a shoe phase but I live at the top of a hill without a car now so that is under control.

Moths me too, but weirdly I don't mind butterflies!

Overweight - me too! bags and jewellery...trollbeads for me are another spending impulse.

Shoes - not so much, I can't walk in heels and am always worried I'll trip and make a fool of myself.

Insecure - probably if I'm honest, I do a really good impression of being confident though!

It's interesting, I know exactly what causes it, just not sure how to resolve. I have 3 children, the oldest of who is disabled. Life was very hard when they were little as No1 always needed loads of hospital trips etc and they were all under 4! I saw getting msyelf little 'treats' as almost my right for the knackering life I was leading.

Anyway, time moved on and things are a lot easier but still very demanding as I CHOSE to go back to work full time despite knowing that with my husband being in the forces the extra demands of a disabled child would fall to me. I still work on the assumption that I deserve treats and every time life becomes a little hard (said child now going through puberty/stresses of teenage life/GCSE choices etc) I resort to ever bigger treats!

My problem is realising that all this money could be spent on treats for us all, a wardrobe full of bags just doesn't ease life does it???

Oh god me too - lots of people can't believe that I have such a low self esteem, mainly because I have very short cropped hair (which means I can't hide behind it) and everybody says that I must be a confident person to have my hair like that! Also, I talk to anybody and, as you can tell, I'm extremely honest - I don't put on an act at all!

I guess really, I'm quite a confident person but with an insecure inside - like a mini egg! The chocolate filling is insecure but I have a hard, confident shell! Oh hell - I'm just a little mixed up!!!!

Agree! I think this thread is working very good - well done Jo.

Ali I admire your honesty - I must have some 'status' thingie too, being Japanese and trying to be the same but to stay different, in the foreign country. When I came to UK in 1990 nobody knew about my LV (at least around us), which was very disorientating feeling.

Then I discover Mulberry...
