Can you tell me the pros and cons of this bag.
I am thinking that it may have to be the replacement for my Antony which found another home some time ago. Finding it difficult to operate without a messenger at the moment. I'd go the safe route and choose black pebbled leather, although it would look divine in goatskin! Of course this occurs to me when all the sales have happened and they are now all sold out at my-wardrobe and pysch ![]() Still I am in no hurry to go buying just before Christmas, probably a good thing. Mitzy, do you still love it, or is it one of those bags with a short shelf life do you think? Many thanks. |

Maple, I really love my Mitzy Messenger. I had an Antony but rehomed it as I just found it a bit arkward and cumbersome.
Mitzy is as light as a feather and the leather is so soft that it moulds to you. I guess the downside to this is it can look lumpy but I always use a VIP liner. IMO it is a very versatile bag as I like to loop up the strap so it can be used as a hobo too. Of all the messengers I have had, this is by far my favourite. |

As absolutely my personal own honest opinion: I loved the leather and size and everything, except I couldn't bond with the strap - it was too narrow & cut into my shoulder. However I haven't read anybody mentioned it so it's just me! I now stick to canvas strap for messenger.
Good luck finding one Maple! (Bicester might be a good try, of course you should go and try it on... hint hint )

I had a tortured hunt for the right messenger that included umpteen Anthonys, a Poppy satchel and any other bag that I could find with a long strap, but none were right.
Mitzy messenger is by far and away the best IMO. The shape is feminine and the pebbled leather means it curves around the hip and follows the body line rather than sticking out at an odd angle. The adjustable strap is great and I've found it really comfortable to wear across the shoulder. The bag is big enough for everyday essentials but not so large that it becomes heavy. The leather is the main advantage for me. It is so soft and luxurious and makes the MM a far more elegant option than a lot of the other messengers that can look IMO a bit functional. I have to really, really love a bag for it to stay more than about six months. MM hasn't been with me that long yet but I have a strong feeling it will be going the distance. So much so that I'm thinking about another one in a different colour. |

If the size is a bit big (?) you could always get the tote, and zip it up like a messenger?
I haven't got a Mitzy, but I do like them a lot!! They don't look like the typical messenger either (both long strapped styles), if that's what you're after :) |

I love mine - it's great leather which dries out with no watermarks after heavy rain showers. The leather is lightweight and as mentioned, is very pliable so moulds nicely to the body. It holds a decent amount of stuff and is easy to get in and out of as it's just a magnetic closure at the top. I know some people however think this is a security risk, but I've never found it to be a problem.
I do agree with Ratrat about the strap though, it is a bit thin and if I have a lot in the bag, e.g. heavy bottle of water, etc, then it does start to dig/cut into my shoulder and after a while I have to move it around. I have tried the trick of fixing up the strap to turn it into a hobo and it does work well. On the whole, a fab bag! |

Agree with everything fuzzy said; by far the most versatile bag I have and has a nice relaxed look about it. Leather is soft, making it quite femine. Bamberio's trick to fold the strap in such a way that you can wear it as a shoulder bag is great when you don't fancy the messenger look.

I have quite a few messengers, and I agree with sarajane - Mitzy is the best! Can confirm what fuzzy said, ita!

I loved the look and the size of my black Mitzy messenger, but I rehomed her because of the strap. I could not get along with the thin strap, it kind of dug into my shoulder unless I was wearing a coat... I was also a bit uncomfortable with the open top, even it the bag sat really close to my hip.

Ladies, thank you for your varied responses - good to know about the strap as well, think it might be a case of having to try one on if they are still available in the stores.
RatRat, DH said he'd take the day off for me if I wanted but then he tried to put me off going which means he really isn't keen to take the day off - and I'm not so sure it's a good idea to drag him up when he doesn't want to go! Still thinking about what to do about it.I went and checked out your modelling pics, Kris, Flossie and someone elses, and they do look really lovely on, and I like the suggestion you mentioned MSSW of knotting it into a shoulder bag, that would work, thanks for the tip :) Hi Thea, did you mean the square looking mitzy tote - I have to say out of the range this is the one I am not drawn to, just something about it, but thank you for the suggestion. SJ, thanks for the thorough description, that's fantastic! Charlie, good suggestion re: the VIP liner, think it must behave the way mabel hobo does - brilliant, will get one of those as well, thank you. Linnea, sorry you had to rehome yours, I understand completely what you are saying - it might just work for me as I only really need wallet, keys and phone with me when running errands, will take a thorough look though. Kris, I remember your reveal thread when you mentioned it was excellent when riding your bike, that's a pretty good recommendation, if it can handle a road trip it certainly can handle a walk just fine :) Fuzzy, thanks for that, good to know about the lightweight properties of it, does it have an internal zip pocket? Thanks. I think this is the next bag on my hit list - if anyone sees a black mitzy messenger on sale anywhere could they send me a PM? That would be fantastic. Thanks ladies for your advice once again. x |

Maplecottage, both black & oak are available in Dublin at House of Fraser (phone 353 12991400) and Brown Thomas (phone 353 16056666). I think they both do mail order, so if you HAVE to have one, and can't get one in the UK, it might be an option...

Hi Maple, I have the Mitzy Messenger in Oak. It's a beautiful, lightweight bag and very easy to carry. I really love mine and hope that you can get one for yourself, it's a wonderful bag to have in your collection!
