Best of luck with all the results ladies. It can be quite stressful, eh?

I had a lump just by my right boob tested last year & the wait was awful. I didnt tell any of my family as I didnt want them to worry, so it made it all the worse really.

I have a smear test a week tomorrow. I dont mind having them done really. Ive had dodgy results a couple of times & ended up at the colposcopy clinic, legs akimbo .. but Jade's plight just goes to show that, even though it's embarrassing, it is completely essential that women have them done. I get reminder letters from my GP about my smears & I always try to book in asap once I get the letter. Had to wait this time for "aunt flo"

Im not a massive fan of Jade .. not because I dislike her, I am just indifferent really - never been a fan of Big Brother, so didnt pay much attention to her to be honest ... but it is heartbreaking. Im sitting here wondering when an announcement will be made. Sadly I think it will be soon. Her poor family & those poor boys. Just doesnt bear thinking about.

Despite all this .. my business partner won't have a smear done - says she "doesnt need one"

Frightening! I have met a lot of patients who had no idea they had cancer until it was too late... they have gone home with weeks to live

That is just so sad. I cant even begin to imagine how that must feel & I hope to goodness that I NEVER find out.

The crazy thing is, that two members of her family (at least two!) have died from cancer .. & still she thinks she doesnt need to have one. I went on at her about it but she just had a go at me, so Im not saying it again. I know I should keep on, but she is so bloody minded. What more can I do?!?!

Maybe, due to those family members having cancer, she just doesn't want to know if she has it or not. I've heard of that before, where family have had a history of breast cancer but 1 member of the family won't get looked at because she was frightened that she might have it and decided she was better off not knowing!!!

There is nothing you can do really except hope for the best!

I did think that was perhaps the case & mentioned it to her. She said its not that - she just doesnt see why she has to have one. She is quite forward & if that was the case, I know she would def have told me. She just thinks that she doesnt need one & that's it ... which is sad.

Hula, what BE bag did you order?

LMM, it's a shame about your work colleague, but I admire your efforts to get her to get checked out. I guess you can't make someone do something they don't want to do. Based on her family history though, I just hope she sees sense at some point, before it's too late.

Id like to think so klp, but I really dont think she will ... honestly.

She thinks Jade is stupid (her words) so that hasnt exactly inspired her to go along & get checked out either.

OK (deep breath) can I come out? - I was saved by Hyginest at the Dentiist. She noticed little white patch on my tongue and insisted to refer me to specialist. I was so annoyed, I was busy with full time work jaggling with DD with nanny, didn't feel anything anyway...

But it turned out to be Cancer - major operation with skin graft followed by radiotherapy. Had 5years all clear last year end and that's why DH bought me Mulberry (my avatar) for Xmas present.

I never skip any checks/tests - I don't smoke, don't drink too much but you never know, life is unfair. I'm glad my DD still has mummy - I feel for Jade's boys.

So ladies, I don't mean to scare you but don't skip Dental check either, as well as smear test/mammography etc...! If you spot anything in your month not desappering longer than 3weeks, ask your dentist.

Knowing early never hurts more than knowing late.

Oh ratrat .. what a huge shock that must have been for you .. & what a worry.

I am so glad you have come through it though .. & that your dentist was so observant.

*phew*

Just goes to show that you can never be too careful about things!!!
