Does anyone know if this works on a sofa?
I have many cans of this for my Mulberry bags, but has anyone tried it on a sofa?? I am at my wits end because my 2 yo son just spilled a cup of coffee all over our Italian leather sofa. It is bad luck because it is the opposite side to when he did it a few weeks ago, so now both sides are ruined! My dh is really worked up and I was trying to help clean it up and he snapped at me telling me I don't know what I am doing. I told him we should spray some Collonil and he just jumped on my case and told me to leave the room. Fair enough, it was expensive, but he is soooo angry. I just cleaned up his Thomas toys and I am now hiding in my room while dh clears it up and my son screams from his bed from a spanking. Great start to the day... |

Hi keri , I wouldn`t spray your sofa with Collonil, god the fumes would knock you all out and its more for water protection and not " children proof".
As for your DH tell him to grow up!!! if he`s that worried about his sofa he shouldn`t of got it with children about!! Sorry but I can`t be doing with "men" today they can be such DHS (and I don`t mean dear husband) more dickhe**!! |

Keri - I'm presuming that your sofa is cream as you say it is ruined (we have Black Leather and I just normally wash anything off with a damp cloth).
If is it, what I would call, Normal Leather then it should just wipe off. Is your sofa more Suede feel? I would suggest that you don't try to get rid of any stain using upholstery cleaner or anything as it may make it worse. Contact somebody who specialises in Leather Furniture and see what they suggest. Sorry, but without actually seeing something like this it is hard to know what to use and none of us would want to tell you to use something and then make it worse. I have to agree on a certain level with Tara - the whole reason we got our leather sofas in the first place was that they were more child proof than anything else which is why we went with Black. |

My baby has already been given loads of cuddles. I mean, he is so small, how can we expect him to not do things like that??
My dh is really so laid back, so it always worries me when he gets wound up by things like this. He was so angry he smacked my baby!! Only once on the bum...but still! I told him that is not how we do things around here and it just wound him up more. Things have calmed down a bit and dh has come in for a cuddle, but he is upset with me I think! I cannot seem to win, so I am going to take my son out to the park for a bit to let things cool down. Our sofa is a medium brown, like in between oak and chocolate colour. We bought it distressed because we knew it was most practical with the kids. It has been through hell in just a few months though! The marks are faintish now because they are drying, but you can see them. |

Glad things have calmed down. My hubby gets like that too - he is really laid back when then he seems to get really angry with the children for the smaller things - don't figure!!?
Hopefully the marks with fade more in time - maybe keep the coffee away from them for a while - or your son - whichever is easier!! Have fun at the park. |

And we bought an expensive sofa, duh, kid in the house, but we keep it covered up.I personally am waiting for it to get a bit wrecked and then Andy will stop being so bloody precious about it!!! Hahahha!! Its just something you put your arse on,or dribble on when you fall asleep watching tv!!!!! But I suppose the good thing with distressed leather, that come a couple of months time,it will all look ok and just a bit more worn in,which is the point of it really? Anyway, take some bread,go to the park and bombard some ducks with bread balls. They love it!!! Great stress reliver!! |

^^^^^The real kicker of it all is that it was his f*cking cup of coffee that he left on the bookshelf next to the sofa.
He was asking for it. Oliver is 2, wtf does he expect??? We are lucky we don't ave plutonium hanging around the house!! |

oooooooooooooo...................Kez,I'm going to be blunt, sorry hun no offense meant,I would f*ck him out the house for a bit!!! We all do daft things, leave cups, paint, etc all over the place, but if Sophie picked it up,and I was'nt there to stop her,I could'nt blame her for messing about with stuff,it'd be my fault.Shes inquisitive and I should know better. Ooo,I think a bit of cool off time all round is in order, shame you don't leave nearer to me,you could come round for a brew and a bloody good moan!! And I promise I'd make ya laugh!!

I'd be more inclined to have a go at him for leaving a hot drink around when a child is likely to scald himself with it. S*d the sofa! Men are adept at turning situations round to suit themselves, so you turn this one round and read him the riot act.
Mine was exactly the same when ours were small. He'd come home after they'd run me ragged all day and wondered why I was cross with them. He'd be the voice of reason, which really p*ssed me off, but if they did some little thing to annoy him...... Let him know you're annoyed with him for going over the top about an accident. |

I'm a great believer in furniture that looks better, the more "lived in" it looks. I had a dining table built here in Mexico, and my specs were: that it should look as good beaten up as it does new. I don't like "precious" furniture -- life is to be lived, and lived in! It is great to use your things. I feel the same way about my handbags. It is stuff to be enjoyed. And then, there's always more stuff to buy if it gets totally ruined. Your sofa will have great character. I have white sofas in the tropics with two kids, two dogs and a cat. I wash the slipcovers a lot, drape Mexican shawls...and when everyone graduates...I'll buy a new sofa! Enjoy your sofa, your children, your husband...and carry on!

Leather cleaner should take care of it. I have some Coach cleaner and conditioner since my DH is so clumsy. And a good swift kick in the arse should take care of DH! Really hope your day gets better! Maybe if the weather is nice, take a walk with your sweet little boy!!
