Default Buying before 1st Nov?
Unfortunately my Nana died a couple of weeks ago but she did leave me a few hundred pounds and DH thinks I should spend it on something she would approve of so I'm thinking of spending it on a handbag.

Thing is... do I buy something today before the prices go up (i.e. a classic black Ledbury) or wait to see what goes in the sale that I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford or look out for something I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford at one of the outlets (are their prices going up too)?

I'd rather have a bit more time to think about

As an aside, can you get lined Ledbury's that also have the side straps or is it a choice of one or the other with them?

Sorry to hear about yor nana but i think DH is abs right - get something lovely that you can remember her by. i got a Marc Jacobs - my first designer bag -with money my dear grandfather left me.

The outlets are not putting prices up until February, they told me recently.

Unless you have something you really really want in mind, i would not put yourslef under the pressure of finding something today....but would have a proper think and then call the outlets or wait for the sale.

Unless that is, you are wanting something classic that will not be in the sale and does not often appear at the outlets....in which case i would get it today before it goes up.

I dont know about the ledbury so hope that someone can come along and help there.

Hope this makes sense. Good luck!!

Hi MP, sorry to hear about your Nana but how lovely of her to leave you a little something for a special treat!

Have you got your heart set on a black Ledbury? If so, then I think if I were you I would go and buy one today from somewhere that has a decent returns policy like HoF or John Lewis but don't use it straightaway - that way you have a "fall-back" at the old prices, but you've got a couple of weeks' leeway to have a good think and maybe check out the outlets as well, and you can take the Ledbury back if you find something better.

None of the classic Ledburys are lined, as far as I know. Not sure whether outlet prices are increasing I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can answer that question for you - oops just noticed PB has answered that one!

Hi, sorry about your Nana.

I agree with the others - if you have your heart set on a Black Ledbury then get one today before the price increases.

If you're not sure of what you get then wait.

As MF has said, none of the classic ledburys are lined. It was the lighter weight leather ones that were lined and didn't have the straps like the Pebble Ledbury (not sure what leather that was in).

The Black NVT (or Darwin) leather Ledburys have the side straps but are not lined.

Hi MB, sorry about you nanna but how lovely to be able to buy something to remember her by.
As it will be a bag you will want to keep for a very long time i would buy a classic bag like a ledbury in nvt. I agree with the others advise, as the price is set to rise tomorrow go and buy one today, how horrible to have to pay an extra £50!

I have an oak printed Ledbury which does have a lining and adjustable straps. I bought mine from Bicester last year. Good luck deciding, and don't forget to post pictures when you do!

MP. Firstly my sympathy for your loss and I really think you are doing the right thing. I hope when I go someone appreciates the bags I leave behind and buys a couple of new ones in my name!

On another thread someone said their local Mulberry concession was doing a 10% off on 19th Nov. Maybe it will be countrywide. That would give you another couple of weeks to make a choice.

I don't know anything about Ledburys but ITA you should go for a classic style that never dates.

I decided not to rush into it. I was leaning towards the Ledbury but I wasn't 100% and I'd rather a special bag be 100% right.
