Am planning a new bag that needs to be large enough to fit all my work stuff, had my heart set on a Black Bays but am in lust with the Alexa. Don't want to wait until January but don't want to get the Black Bays then wish I had waited and got an Alexa argghhhh!!!!
Have any any of you ladies got a Black Bays, this needs to be a work horse bag. Am thinking Black would be most practical and easier to match with my wardrobe. Help! |

Nat I have had 2 black bays, one NVT, and one patent (which I still have).
I also as you know, had an oak, and choc bays - out of the 3 nvt colourways the one I reached for the most was black but my black nvt was a bit dull against my pale skin so I sold it. Black I think is a staple and definitely required in the wardrobe for those hard to match outfits. The Alexa, it's hard to know until the bag has actually been seen and tried on, I know a few people love a bag they haven't tried on or seen in real life so its very hard to make an assessment on it. |

I think the bays would be a better work horse work bag, the handles look sturdier and it looks like it will keep its shape better than the alexa.

I think the Bays will be large enough and easier to carry! You can always go for the small Alexa if you like the style, as more of a casual bag, for shopping etc...

Oh it's a tough call. I love both. My friend owns an Oak NVT Bays and she uses it as her daily every day usage bag. Nothing beats the durability of Bays IMO.
But at the moment I'm seriously in love with Alexa because I've been looking for a bag in that kind of style for aaages. I think get the Bays now and get the Alexa from the sale. |

For work, I would say Bays since it will hold heavy staff no prob. Alexa will have issue on handles pulling up the flap - the reason I'm after 'small' Alexa.

I say Bays
I've haven't seen the Alexa however although Inem's avatar is fab there seems alot of strain on the fasteners in the Alexa when being hand carried. The Bays is a fantastic work horse and gets better by age. It also holds it's value. |

Bays all the way for work and Black ,IMO, is the most underrrated colour of the three staples. In a store it's just a lovely black bag but when daylight hits it the sheen is fabulous.
I'm not predisposed to Alexa but it could be that it's only in the pics we have seen so far that it's being carried like a sack of spuds. If it turns out to be fabulous it will become an IT bag for a while and you'd know yourself if that's okay for your workplace? |

The Bays is such a gorgeous, workhorse of a bag, so I would be inclined to say go for it. BUT, the Alexa looks so beautiful, and I am seriously lusting after one myself. However, taking a better look at the picture in Inem's avatar, as suggested by Tiree, makes me have to think twice. Oh, but what a beauty!!!

It depends kind of how fashion forward you want to be carrying it really ! I think the Alexa for the first few months will be a talking point, as its already been celebified!, if you want cool understated, go for the Bays, and if you want a statement bag, wait for the Alexa.
