HI Ditab, since my reply I have been googling!! I found a picture from Cosmopolitan Mag and you are right the zipper tag should be brown. I should have trusted my instincts! There is also a Genuine Chalk EMmy on ebay at the moment and you can instantly tell from looking at it that it is the real thing - also has a brown tag. The one I have is obviously a Mirror copy and if you look at the Replica sites they have the cream tag. I am gutted! I guess this happens to a few newbies so I will be smarter in the future. Such a lot of money to be conned though. I paid by bank draft too so I presume I don't have much come back with this seller?

Oh, I'm really sorry - that sucks

I'm guessing you've already left glowing feedback & everything? You could try contacting the seller and saying that the bag is not authentic, as described, you are not happy and would like to return for a full refund minus seller's fees and you won't report her to eBay. And see what happens.

I'm not sure eBay would do much if you reported her (check the rules & forums) but perhaps the threat would be enough to get her to agree?

Although I guess then you're trusting her to actually refund you once she's received the bag back...

Alternatively, you could just say that you wouldn't have paid anywhere near that much if you'd known it was a replica and would she consider a partial refund or something?

I don't know really. Try searching on here - I'm sure others have had this happen to them unfortunately - and the eBay forums tend to have lots of advice.

We must be on the same wavelength! I already emailed the person (I also have their mobile number and address from initial purcahse!!) saying exactly what you have suggested. I threatened to report them if they didn't reply with their intentions to refund etc. Fingers crossed that I get the money back....if I do I am getting that Bayswater in Dundrum!!!!!!

Like you said, I think it has happened to many people so I would be very lucky to get the money back. This person sells alot though so the threat of contacting ebay may work.

Shopaholic, yes unfortunately the alana is a fake. I see you left feedback on 2nd August so presuming you paid by paypal, you still have plenty of time to file a claim. If they refuse to refund you, file a chargeback via paypal for item significantly different to that described. Regarding the kenya bayswater, if you check a page or two back you will see we have discussed that bag.

Lijo, it is highly likely that a bag with the serial number 026904 is fake. However, there will be a genuine bag out there with that number as the replica makers copied it in the first place. Probably like looking for a needle in the proverbial haystack finding the genuine bag that the serial number 026904 is actually on though!

hmm that looks fake due to the placement of the buckle. the buckle seems too small because on the real one the brass buckle is closer to the stitches?

i also found this website...is this real? in the about us section, it claims to be real but from the pic, it doesn't seem to be as it appears to be "off"

Hi a_p,

Coutremode sells replica bags or "mirror" copies. I have learned from ebay and this forum that if it's too good to be true then it is! I don't think I will be buying a Mulberry bag again from ebay and only from Mulberry or Mulberry regiestered sellers! The outlets and factories seem to be the way to go! Also try a website called Voguelander!

Although there is only one photo, it really looks wrong. It is too slouchy and has no structure.

Writing this question here since I know many of you experts hang around in this thread. I wonder about the metal disc. Is it present in all eg. Bayswaters and Roxannes or could it be missing in some items? Or are ther just some models that lack this disc? Also, does all Mulberry bags have a "Made in"-tag, regardless if it is from England or Turkey etc?

I'd say so.

Silur, not all bags have a disc, some just have a label. However, not all the models even have a label. Not all discs have a serial number and not all bags have a Made in tag. Also, the same models (if they do have a Made in tag) are not made in the same countries, for example the roxanne could have either no tag, a Made in Spain or a Made in Turkey, and the bayswater again could have no tag, Made in Turkey, China or England. I have yet to see a bayswater made in Spain, but that is not to say they don't exist.

Duranie - definitely replicas, the colours are not correct and there is never a sample piece of hanging leather attached to the bags.
