what do you refuse to give up or live without?

I can live without a housekeeper/maid.

but, I must have my gardener...

I can live without Starbucks

but, I must go out for sushi...

I am definitely learning to curb spending...but some stuff I can't give up, or just refuse to...even if we were jobless, I'd still pay for the gardener.

Though I have curbed, and will continue to curb, my spending, the two things that are not even remotely close to necessities that I will not give up are:

- monthly facials
- gel nails

manicures/pedicures. i wont refuse or give up. my other beauty routines I can do myself. but getting these done are theraputic to me.

Definitely our gardener. Yard work just takes so much time and neither my husband nor I enjoy doing it.

I'll cut back on eating out and random trips around town, but I'll always try to find a way to pay for:

Gardener.
Cell phone.
Internet connection.

Internet.
Car. Living out in the 'burbs, with lousy transport, I need my car. However, I am batching errands so I don't use it as much.
iPod. You will pry it only from my cold, dead hands. I must have it in the car.
Tivo. I won't watch TV without it. If I have to give up my Tivo, I won't watch TV anymore.
Food. I could give up individual items (even chocolate and popcorn, my favorites), but the day I can't taste/swallow is the day I say adios.

I have had to give up a lot of things this past year. A year ago this time...I said I would never give up my pedicures...now I do it myself!!
I guess the only thing I refuse to give up is the occasional treat for my kids....Sonic happy hour, Basklin Robbins, etc....
This has been a tough year for us, but I do not want them to feel deprived!!!

You know, I can't think of anything that I feel so strongly about that I couldn't give up (assuming we're not counting my DF here). I'd certainly prefer to get fortnightly pedicures and massages and monthly facials and whatnot, but even though I'm in a healthy six figure income bracket, I'm still too much of a stinge to do any of these things frequently. I don't particularly enjoy it, but I do my own manicures and pedicures, for instance.

I refuse to give up my personal freedom to do what makes me happy. If I believe in it strong enough, I will follow what I want and not listen to others. That may mean shopping beautiful brands or eating ice cream whenever I want. =) I was broad eh?
