I have around 4k in debt (credit card/overdraft mainly), im in the process of getting a monthly agreement set up with the creditors to repay a set amount a month that i can afford (single mum in part time work)..Its got to the point in mine and my partners relationship where we want to move in together officially..i would give up my rented home and move in with him, he owns his own home, paid in full so no mortage or anything. My question is, when i move in with him and have to tell the companies where im living now, will it blacklist his name or anything? He has his own business, run from home, so dont want to jepordise anything for him...im actually scared we wont be able to do this, all because i was an idiot with plastic last year..

No that's your debt alone. Even if you moved in with the Queen, she wouldn't be responsible.

You can't be held accountable for another person's debt (and vice versa) unless one of you cosigns for the other, or unless you're joint applicants on whatever account.

Your new address will not have an effect on his credit, its your debt and your debt alone.

yep right now the debt is solely hers as a single person. The equation changes when you get married even if he is not on the account as a joint holder... at least for the states where the concept is applicable.

Good for you for trying to pay it off! Have you talked to your BF about his expectations regarding rent, grocery money, utilities etc?
