My machine recorded a repeat of that show, so I watched the elf part again last night. Suze mocked her a bit in the beginning, then settled down to treat it like a normal request. The woman is 56 years old, had $60k in savings, no retirement, but she said she has some art, books, whatever as her retirement. Get this - estimated value of her retirement goodies was $20k! Can you imagine someone wanting to spend $4k on that type baloney at 56 years of age and with virtually no retirement????

Maybe she thinks the elves will help her with her retirement.

And the reason that she kept all her money in antiques, etc was because she thinks stocks and bonds are 'going away and there will be nothing'. THAT to me spoke a lot about her sanity, too.

I just watched the show and there was a woman who wanted to spend $3K on her 20th anniversary party. Suze actually asked her if she or her husband had ever cheated on each other! I can't believe they didn't cut that out. I thought it was SO inappropriate!

I had the same reaction, Lori - it was so off the wall! Then as she was wrapping up the conversation with the woman, she told her to both (she and her husband) be faithful for the next year, until the party. I agree - that should've been cut before airing.

All in all, I thought this week's show was pretty boring, especially having that woman come on that had been on a few weeks ago. Basically nothing had changed.

I just paused a show that comes after Suze now - "Till Debt Do Us Part" or something like that. Kind of like "Hoarders" where someone comes in to try to straighten out a person's or couple's problem, but this obviously being financial. It's an interesting show.

Wow, Suze is so anti-marriage. Was that out of left field or was there some basis for the question? I didn't see that episode yet.

It came right out of left field, was abrupt, and as Lori said, completely inappropriate.

I'm not sure if she's anti-marriage though - what makes you think that? Didn't she do a show awhile back saying that gay marriage should be legal, especially in the context of financial advantages of marriage?

Suze Orman is gay. I think she got married during the short time gay marraige was legal in CA.
