I am wondering who everyone is: are we 35+ year old lawyers with money to spare? 19 year old girls with boyfriends who love us with purses? 23 year olds in college with credit debt up to our ears? You don't have to disclose your age if you don't want to, but are you in your twenties? Are you employed? With a sugar-daddy? Married to a millionare? Wishing you were married to a millionare but instead just spending a majority of your clothing money on purses or even accumulating debt? How many purses do you buy a year? If you buy one every few years, what is it about that bag that makes you dig out your wallet vs. another year? When it comes to spending money are you saving it for the purse or the clothes?
I'll get started. I'm 26 and a recent college graduate. I am pondering my first non-coach bag purchase (thanks to my boyfriend who donated $1000). I value clothes as well as purses, buying some designer things but mostly Zara, Banana Republic, and H&M. As I am between jobs I do have a credit debt problem but I am stealthfully working on that and fully confident that I will soon either pick a winning loto ticket or be a billionare's wife. |

I'm 23 and a recent college graduate. I make decent money and I have student loans. I afford my bags by selling on eBay, saving money and using extra funds that come my way (birthday and Christmas money, tax refunds, extra paychecks, etc). I try not to use my one credit card to purchase bags. I tend to splurge on bags, and buy less expensive shoes and clothes. I save money by bringing my lunch to work every day, and not stopping at Starbucks for coffee that I can make myself at home. I could afford a more expensive car, but I chose a Toyota Corolla S because it's fuel efficient, inexpensive and leaves me extra money for bags - not to mention it's darn cute!
I'm not married to a Sugar Daddy, not dating anyone rich, and my family makes good money, but we're nowhere near wealthy.

I'm still in school, yet to start law school but very soon ! I don't have any debt, but I also don't have very much spending money as I try to pay for everything by myself (rent, food, books). I work part time and during the summer full time at the worst job ever (customer service !). It'd be nice to catch a sugar daddy, but until then, I'm quite happy being an independent woman ! And hey, I like my money where I can see it - in my closet, so expenses of the fashion sort are all okay by me.

I'm only 21 and a college student. My parents are very generous and it's their money that generally goes toward my purchases, with the occasional gift from a boyfriend (I'll ask for a handbag rather than a piece of jewelry because we all know most men's taste in jewelry is crap).
However, I am graduating this year and once I do, I'll definitely have to pinch my pennies. No more excessive purchasing of expensive things! |

I'm 44, married, retired make-up artist/hairstylist. I had to retire because we decided to have a baby after 16 years of marriage, crazy huh?! Anyway, my husband has a great job and is smart with investing it and very generous I might add, so that I could afford to buy something nice once in a while, like another overpriced handbag. But, my main source of feeding my addiction to purses is from working my ass off when I was working and investing my money well.

I am 32 and own a business. I don't use credit cards (I've learned the hard way!), so if I don't have cash in hand I don't buy it!

No such thing as too old! I'm a member of a creative writing forum - one of our regulars is 67, and she's a wonderful lady and a great friend. Just bask in the presence of like-minded people.

I am a full time college student(thanks to loans and govt grants). I afford my obsession by saving(part-time work if I feel like it, money from my parents). I will only charge something if I know I can pay it off the next month. I'm the only one out of my friends who have $0 credit card debt. But I won't be buying anymore bags for awhile. Dh and I are really pinching our pennies so we can buy a house.

Hi, I'm 51, still think of myself as young and you will find when your time comes around you still do too. It's all about how you think. I had children after med school so I still have 3 at home and the youngest is 10. that keeps me young. we spend a lot of time at the soccer field, no place for dressing up but I still take my awesome handbag with me. I make good money but I also support 6 people including a daughter at Princeton at 40grand a year. So even I accumulate dept since I am buying way too many handbags since I found this forum but I also have a new bounce in my step if you know what I mean. I also sell on ebay, just so I can buy handbags to look at and then decide if they are for me or someone else. user name moncox. My chocolate paddy is there and if no one buys it then it is mine. (my husband will think I tried since I have a wisky on the way too) work hard, don't spend on stupid stuff and you can buy handbags that will last you forever and get you plenty of bounce in your step. Cristina is doing it the right way. you should be proud of yourself.

I am 32, a partner in an automotive business, and due to the demands of being self-employed am on the 10 year plan for my BA (will finally have it this summer).
Anyway, my husband and I are VERY fortunate to have a very successful retail business (5 years so far), we have no children so we spoil ourselves and our 2 dogs. We both refuse to "grow up", and don't see anything wrong with indulging our wants as long as the money is there. I would never go into debt to buy nice things, and right now we don't have to. I still plan/save for large purchases; and am trying to get better about the impulse buy (anthracite paddy ).
