Default Does anyone else dread going to work ?

What is your job and do you really dislike it ? Do you feel hopeless at being able to change your career ?

I am currently doing 40 hours a week at a job I am beginning to dislike. I don't "dread" going into work but it might be headed in that direction.

I work in my own business as an Engineering draftsperson and while I love the job I hate the business, it makes me feel tied down with no options. If I was an employee in another company and had become disillusioned with my job I could look for another job but as a business owner it is not that easy.

I have seriously considered studying something altogether different and changing careers but I can't see that I would be able to in my situation.

I don't know what I want. All I know is what I don't want.

I've got a few interests but none that I'm particularly passionate about.

Some days I do; it mainly has to do with being cubicle bound, seeing the same people day in and day out (although they are nice) and not seeing the sun for days at a time.

^I'm with you on the sun thing. I feel like it's dark when I go to work and dark when I leave...sucks!

I don't dislike my job, I like it a lot more than my last job because I'm compensated so much better. It's not ideally what I'd love to be doing but what I'd love to do really doesn't pay much. I work to live, I don't live to work.

ITA!!! I like my job, but I don't *love* it. It pays better than any other ones I've had and I like the people so that helps. So I put in my 40 hrs/wk and enjoy the weekends (which go by way too fast)!

I don't like my job, but it pays very well and the people are nice. The work is just repetitive and boring (building databases, looking at numbers all day, etc.) I've considered quitting a few times as I am young and single.

The only thing that has kept me from quitting is knowing that I am going to be able to switch positions in the company in July (I was hired as an entry level-high talent candidate, and anyone hired as this gets to rotate to one job). If I'm not in the new position, I will consider going back to school.

I have my off days. Not getting something right makes me sink waaay in the dumps, and getting something to work gives me incredible highs.

Maybe my job makes me bipolar??

Are you able to see that there is direction for you in your job, is there room for advancement, opportunities of any sort that you could capitalise on? Is it possible for you to discuss your situation with your boss and see what (if anything) could be done to help gain fulfilment in your job?

I will agree that unless you are passionate about something it does make it hard to know what you would really like do but all I can say is give anything a go even if you think you won't like it as it may surprise you and you might find something where you least expected it to be.

I work in the legal field and I find it not to be as rewarding as I thought. It is a government job, part-time. The pay does not support me and I have another part-time job doing housekeeping at a hotel. That job income could not support me also, but I am happy there.
At the government, that is another huge story. I really like some of my co-workers, but some are so wealthy due to their husbands being Judges or lawyers and drive to work in a Hummer, walk in with these amazing handbag collections and jewelry and walk around with a huge ego and bad attitude. Managment hires the most dumb or rude people ever. I am fed up with lies that I am told. What happen to wishing good will to your co-workers and helping one another so that we can all grow professionally? Why can't they grow up and act mature?

Very recently, I had to tell my boss that I cannot work with one particular person, and if she harrasses me again, I will press charges. I had it with her.

I love the legal field, I just don't like the people that it attracts to this field.

It changes, mostly I hate it though. Boring, lousy pay and not challenging enough. It works for me now as I´m going to school at the same time.
