Default Check Your Credit Cards, Recent Activity

Look for a charge similar to this: TLG*GREATFN57241180FEB, 800-290-8603 , CT
They've been scamming me out of $9.99 for months and I didn't notice until today. They have surveys on sites like cheaptickets.com, buy.com and others, that they use to get your info and enroll you into some sort of club that offers no benefits but costs a month charge. I neither visited either of these sites, nor have I filled out any surverys, so watch out!

i suggest everyone here go to myFICO - FICO Credit Scores, Online Credit Reports and Identity Theft Protection. sign up for the free 30 day trial so you can see exactly what is on your credit reports. it take ~10 minutes to sign up and you can view your credit reports right afterwards. then, simply cancel within the 30-day trial period if you don't see anything erroneous on your report

Weird. DBF got one of these charges on his CC today, and I Googled the 800-number to see what it was. This is one of the sites that came up. Other sites like RipoffReport.com also came up. Apparently, people were being signed up for services when they did business with certain retail sites or responded to mailers. The services were all through a company called Trilegiant. I think DBF was signed up for some credit monitoring service when he got a credit report or something. We tried calling the company and we kept getting disconnected, so he filed a dispute with the credit credit card company. What a scam!

I went through this same thing a couple of years ago. I had all these TLG charges with different companies. They are very small amounts so they don't catch your eye easily. It took me months to get them off but I finally did. The weird thing was, somehow, the actual credit card company is involved. Here is one hint on how not to get these: NEVER sign up for anything to get for free or a chance to 'win' something. This is how you sign up for some of these things without even realizing it.

Question: How did you guys not catch this charge? Did you not bother to see your statement in paper or online?

Not being rude, just curious

DBF caught it right away. This is first time he was charged this. However, I have been reading that people were charged for months and didn't notice it or act on it. I don't get that. I go over my statements with a fine tooth comb. Everything is accounted for before I send out my payments.

Ladies, that's actually Great Fun (or something to that effect). When you place an order online, make sure you are not clicking links that say, "Save $10 on your next order. Here's how." It takes you to Great Fun. I've seen the links on Beauty/Drugstore.com as well as Avon.com, so I'm sure they're everywhere. Just read the fine print.
