Jessica, keep it.......you sound like it will be very very tough to let it go. they don't have those all-of-a-sudden rain showers in Texas, do they? if they didnt here, i would have kept mine
this bag is FOR SURE not an every day bag though |

Normally, from what I know, Prada boutiques will accept returns of full-priced items (for store credit) within 10 days. However, since the Prada fairy bags present product quality issues, Prada may be more lenient in accepting their returns. I believe Luv2Live has returned her fairy bag successfully for a refund after 10 days has passed...?... I could be wrong, but that's how I understood it.
I am also thinking of returning my wristlet. I love it to pieces and although I live in sunny SoCal, I anticipate the ink on my wristlet will run eventually - in the near future - since accidents are inevitable, especially when you have little ones. I want to enjoy my purses for a long time and I can't justify the cost v benefit of the wristlet if I don't use it as often as I would like. I will call my SA tomorrow and let you all know what she says. |

Jessica - I can sympathise with your dilemma. I have just taken delivery of the Fairy Bag, I had it sent from Italy (from Prada website) so don't know if it's new stock or not. Anyway, I live in England and I don't need to remind anyone that it rains A LOT! I have a lot of delicate handbags and if I know the weather is a bit doubtful, then I will not use one of my best bags. I have a lot of Chanel bags and will not use lambskin ones in rainy weather either. I love the bag too much not to keep it, so it's definately one for "best" which it would have been even without the wet weather issues. So I would keep it

Thanks for all your advices! I was writing down my post late last night coz I'm still having to decide what to do. Hey Purse, it doesn't rain here much where i live and we only get at least 45 degree weather for a week in winter. We are blessed here when it comes to weather!!! So, I don't have much time in returning it anyway...so I guess it's a keeper

I went to Prada BH today to return the fairy wristlet. My SA Beatrice (who worked her butt off to find me my wristlet) and the manager were going to allow me to do the return despite it being over 10 days since my purchase. HOWEVER, instead of a refund, Prada will give you store credit for the return.
Now I have nothing against the new purses they have on display (really yummy new cervo lux purses and banging clutches too), but seriously, there is nothing in that store right now that makes my heart sing like the fairy does and I don't want to have to sit on a store credit (have my funds tied with nothing to show)... sooooo I decided to keep the wristlet (there were a few people on the waitlist for it, too)!! I will be careful with it, but if it does get damaged, the manager said they'll take care of it. What does that mean? Heck if I know, but I was made to feel as if I will not be left out in the dust if the ink does bleed later. P.S. I was told that the ink running had something to do with the "paper" used.. same as cervo lux purses. Prada SAs were indeed emailed by the mothership and was told about the fairy problem. My Prada SA said that they had only sold about 3-4 purses since last month and no one has yet called or returned with any problems. I hope to be one of these gals ...

This is so sad :( I fell in love with this bag as soon as I saw it, I have always loved fairies, and these were just so beautiful...I wanted one so badly. Although, I'm very glad that I never got one due to the issues that keep coming up about them bleeding, I still want a beautiful fairy bag. It was definitely a grail piece for me. I'm glad you found a new love though!
I probably would have cried when it bled.

I have just come off of a lengthy phone call with Carolyn from the Manhasset Boutique that accepted the return of the Purse Blogger who posted the photo we are all looking at and returned that Purse Bloggers bag. She stated the following:
- In the whole country there have only been 2 returns she knows of other than that all the customers have been happy. She says the "problem" has been blown out of proportion. There are no plans to recall the bag because such a small return rate is not of concern. - All Prada stores will honor any return due to bleeding (as long as the bag has not totally been drenched in a downpour) at any time. You can buy your bag today and return it in 6 months if you have a problem. Quality is guaranteed. - The bag is a work of art. The color is hand injected into each area of the bag by an artisan. It is then sealed with a shiny layer that maintains the suppleness of the leather as well as sealing in the paint. However due to the fact that it is hand painted Prada recommends to not carry the bag in the rain. However when I asked if the bag would run, say, if one put it down on a wet bathroom counter she stated that it should not run and if it does it should be returned. -I described that I heard of these problems on the Purse Blog and that it was her customer that posted there regarding this issue. She said that she saw the bag that came in for the return, that they issued the return, and that she herself could barely notice the bleeding and was not sure that the bleeding was not already part of the design, but was happy to accommodate her customer. - I mentioned that another Purse Blogger said her bag ran when a child spilled juice on it. She stated she would not keep a bag of that value anywhere near small children, and that is a separate issue altogether. - She stated that bags produced in later rounds of production will have additional sealant on the bag but then they will also be less supple. Even so, she would not carry later production bags in the rain. - She recommended against the purchase of the wallet if you are planning to use it every day, which would be handled a lot more frequently and with less care. Wallets do take a beating. However if you were planning to use it only when you carried the bag etc. it would be a smart choice. - She said that one can focus on the one or two cases where people have had problems and forget that thousands of people have not had any issues at all. Let's not ruin the reputation of a handbag this beautiful before we check the facts. - I actually think that this forum should have called Prada before putting this story on the front page. - In conclusion I also called Prada NY and expect a return call in the next few hours. I am not saying that there is a defect or that there is not, I am just sharing what I heard. Personally, I have purchased three bags and have had no problems. |
