I'm so upset over this!

I bought this mughetto coffer from Harrods in London last June and in November, when i removed it from storage (ie in the dustbag from my cupboard where I also keep my black Miu Miu bow bag), I discovered that it had mould ALL over it!

I brought it immediately to my usual bag cleaner and she told me not to get my hopes up coz it looked like the mould had extensively damaged the colour on the seams of the bag.

So they spent 3 weeks removing all the mould from the seams and creases but couldn't do anything about the colour damage.

The mould has turned the seams from a lovely shade of lilac to a neon orange pink with lilac specks and I just can't bear to look at it. This is all over the bag, including the crossbody strap!

Should I bring it to the Miu Miu store and see if they can repair it or should I consider dyeing it to another colour?

This is the glazed leather version btw.

I'm just so upset over this!

I can feel your sadness for I had the same experience with my mughetto regular bow, it moulded and sealant changed to bright orange color. It looked very similar to your bag. Brought it back to Miu Miu store to send to Miu Miu repair centre, repair centre advised repainting of sealant may last for a short while n may do more harm than good.

I asked Miumiu store for replacement but they claimed color changed due to mould, I did not accept it as an answer of course. Told them I can accept if mould on bag n mouldy smell due to insufficient airing but no way it should change bag color. I finally got a replacement. However, I didnt have much luck with my replaced bag, within 4 months n ensuring sufficient airing, pinkish spots developed on different parts of leather. This time, I was advised by Miu Miu that is leather issue which happened though rare.

Bring it back to the Miu Miu store, I hope they can help you with this.

Thanks for your reply!

Do you think they will kick up a fuss coz I didn't buy it locally? I still have the authentication card with me...

So I returned to the Miu Miu store yesterday and a very nice sales lady issued a repair receipt for my bag.

She reckons it will take 3-4 months before I get it back and kept repeating that she doubt anything can be done but she will "give it a try"

She explained that the crossbody strap and that key pouch will most likely be replaceable but other parts, she aint too sure about what they can do.

Fingers crossed!!!

Hello! Do you have any updates on what Miu Miu did for you? I just took out my bag from the dust bag and was so so upset to find that the same thing had happened to mine ):

Sealant all over my bag has turned bright orange and there are bright pink spots all over my bag too.. Is it because of the way I stored it?

I'm hoping all went well with your bag! I'm going to make a trip down to the store at Paragon soon..

Hey there, sorry to hear about that.

I got a call in early May telling me that my bag has returned from HK and unfortunately there was nothing they could do to help! I was furious that that was the BEST they could do for me after 3 months so I refused to take their answer and demanded to speak to someone who could do something about it.

I was then informed later that day that the senior manager agreed out of goodwill for me to do a one-for-one exchange at the shop. I went down to the Ion outlet a few days after that and they showed me the ONLY coffer left in the shop. Guess what, the leather on the back of the bag was torn and it was clear it had been on display for a while. I refused to exchange for another damaged bag and was told i will have to find something else in the shop then.

In the end, I topped up some money to get a new season bag coz they refused to issue me a credit note.

To be honest I'm not very happy about how everything turned out but I gotta look on the bright side that I at least still have a bag.

Please bring your bag down together with your receipt and stand firm that it is their quality issue, they can't blame everything on Singapore's humidity!

Thank you so much for replying!

It is so upsetting when they say there is nothing they can do.. I hope your new bag is doing fine!

May I ask what you said to the SA after he/she said they could not do anything? This is my first time going back to a store for an exchange or repair, and I'm not sure what to say to convince the SA.

May I also ask how you stored your Mughetto Coffer?

Thank you, again!

When I first went to the store, the SA told me not to be too optimistic about the possible repairs. She explained that the parts are hard to replace but pointed out that the detachable items like the key holder and the body strap may have a better chance of being exchanged.

Hence when I received the call in May and they said there was no repair done, I pressed on to ask why the detachable items were not exchanged. I would have let it go if they had at least changed those items but I just felt that they didn't make the effort to help me. So I told the SA that I wanted to speak to the manager.

Didn't get to in the end coz they called me soon after to offer the exchange.

I left my coffer in the dust bag and placed it in my wardrobe, which also holds my clothes and my other miu miu bow bag. I don't have aircon as well.

Hope that helps.

My mughetto bow got this problem too... The bows turns yellowish pink, sealant changed color, pink spots on some parts of the bag, I seldom use the bag. I stored my bag in the dust bag, in my wardrobe with thirsty hippo.

I went to the store at Paragon today, and an SA by the name of Chiara was really really attentive and sympathetic, and agreed to an exchange without any fuss whatsoever.

The manager at the Marina Bay Sands boutique wasn't quite as commendable though.

So anyway, I exchanged my Large Mughetto Bow for a Medium Azzurro Bow!

Not quite sure I love the Azzurro now that I've brought it home and I'm looking at it.. But in the store I was quite sure I wanted a Medium and a darker colour because I didn't want the same sealant colour change to happen if I got a new Mughetto Bow.

Thanks sweet_p84 for guiding me through this!

Unfortunately i think yes most probably it will happen to coffer lamb, i have a brown coffer in lambskin and im really not happy with it.. The lambskin doesnt look and feel luxurious as chanel's or dior's.. Plus the color is slightly fading.. It's not as dark! And also the hardware color is fading and i can see that it is becoming "greenish" so i'm assuming that the same problem will happen to the lambskin.. Im just very disgusted with the quality of miu miu i will never ever buy a bag from miumiu! In my opinion the brand is not premium and not even close to being one!!

Glad u managed to have your exchange. I would never tink of getting anymore Miu Miu bag after all these quality issue.. Do monitor your new Miu Miu, for any issue. Cos the 2nd bag I got as replacement have quality issue. Luckily I bring her out more often to enable me to notice it sooner than later.. Gd luck with your new bag.
