I found a grey blake on an online consignment shop website last week and ordered it right away. I have wanted a grey bag for quite some time, and I love my clay blake. So the grey blake arrived today...and well, I'm not loving it. It's exactly what I expected...but it just doesn't give me that warm and fuzzy feeling for some reason. Am I crazy? It just seems...bla...

I think the color is lovely, it's a nice neutral looking color that could go with heaps of things.

Did you get it at a good price??

Is it the leather? So cool tends to be a love/hate phenomenon here on tPF. Personally, I've always very much preferred soft calf versions of bags over the so cool leather ones.

Well, my clay blake has the so cool leather, and I like it because the color seems to "glow" and it holds up in the rain.. So I'm not sure if it's the leather in combination with the grey or what. Or maybe the grey with the gold hardware?

It happens - I had the same problem with the grey/gold combo on the Blake. It just didn't do it for me.

Yours looks really pretty on you, but if you're not feeling it, you should find something else that melts your heart.

The Blake looks lovely on you. Perhaps, wear it around the house a little bit to get used to the color/hardware combo? If you still don't like it then, then get something that you love and will get a lot of use. Good luck!

I definitely need to see it in the daylight...I guess if I don't like it in the morning, I'll return it. But if it's the grey/gold combo that is putting me off I don't even know what I would replace it with. All the other grey bags I like have gold hardware. hmmm...

Its something about the combo on the Blake, IMO. I have a grey stam and the gold looks good on it.

How about a Carter, Jr.? Its grey with silver hw.

Personally, I don't like when grey leather is paired with goldtone HW. It just doesn't work...for me. So I wouldn't get much of a fuzzy feeling either.

Just looking at the So Cool leather isn't doing it for me. Keep it around for a little bit to see if you really dislike it before it permanently goes!

I actually do not normally like Blakes. I think they are too plain. HOWEVER I really like that one. I think it is the leather. Anyway, I know how you feel. I have ordered bags online and when the arriver I am UNDERwhelmed. If you don't love it get something else!

Thanks for all the input everyone. And thanks Tiger for the suggestion, I can't remember what the carter jr looks like, so I'll look it up.

I'm 99% sure I am sending the blake back. From a distance, I like it, but up close not so much.

i think the problem with the color is that it's more of a putty/taupe than it is grey although i like both colors with gold hw. since you don't love it, it's the best thing that you're sending it back. now you can use the funds to get something else that you'll be super excited about.
