So I know there are lots of threads that do talk about the Blake on here, but i think this bag deserves it's own official thread
!!! We can talk about the colors, post modeling pics, and ask questions, etc on here! My first question is--is this your every day bag? or do you only use it every so often/special occasions? |

I have a cocoa Blake, which, when I first got it, was my everyday bag. Then I had a baby and it was just too heavy to carry, what with a kid, diaper bag, etc. I brought it out the other day and carried it for a few days, but I just got a Ferrari MP, so I'm carrying that for now. I guess the short answer is I don't save it for special occasions. I just feel kind of schlumpy right now with the baby weight and not being able to wear my nice (much smaller) clothes, but once the weight comes off and I can fit back into my clothes I anticipate carrying it much more often.

^cheryl! i have a cocoa too! i love the color, it is TDF. congrats on having a baby! that must be so amazing to be a mommy. i am sure you don't look schlumpy, you must be a glowing mother! but i definitely can see where it would be too heavy, it practically feels like a baby itself haha!

Yay for the Blake! I have a Bordeaux and a Grey, and I use them for everyday, when I am able to carry a smaller bag (I am a "big bag" kinda girl so sometimes I need more room). I think the Blake always makes every outfit look so neat and polished!

Thanks Daisy! My little one is amazing. The Cocoa is soooo beautiful. My problem is, while I know that the Blake can be dressed up or down, I refused to invest a lot of money into maternity and post maternity wear. So I feel like the Blake just doesn't go well with my post baby wardrobe of sweats and my husband's over-sized t-shirts. I should carry it while on the treadmill to get a better work-out!

What a great incentive to lose that maternity weight!! I'll have to remember that when it comes my time.
I love my blake, but it's too heavy to carry regularly. I'm happy just looking at it. LOL. |

![]() I think the Blake is the perfect size for me though. I can't carry anything bigger. I use mine as an everyday bag too.

I agree, the Blake is the perfect size, if not just a hair too big for me. I can't carry anything bigger either. I had a pomegranate venetia and sold it because it was just too big, even though I loved it. I got a Stella thinking it would be a great slightly smaller bag, but it's almost too small. I think I've found a happy medium with the small mp. But my Blake is just too beautiful not to carry, even if it is only once in a while. Like HitchcockBlonde said, it just makes everything look so polished.

The Blake is my favorite MJ bag but I wish it wasn't so darn heavy. I like that you can wear it on your shoulder or on your arm. The compartments also keep me organized so I love that too. Heck, I love everything about it except the weight (I think I can live with that though) .

About the weight? Aren't the new Blakes, the ones with the shiny much lighter than the older ones?

the blake is great! while it's not my favorite soft calf bag, it's still very classy and perfect for work. i have one in pale grey, but i used to own one in indigo. i love that you can shoulder carry it, but it's heavy and one of the handles always manage to slip off my shoulder. oh, well. small price to pay for a hot, sexy bag.

^ Yes, the So Cool Blakes and the Mercer Blakes are definitely lighter than the traditional Soft Calf Blakes.

since this is only my 2nd. day carrying my fuchsia blake I can say I really love the style. Yes, it's a bit heavy but if carried on the shoulder I don't notice it so much. I love just picking it up and putting it down cause I love to touch it. I will use it as an everyday bag and I carry it back and forth to the rink to teach, not the most stylish outfits, (workout stuff mostly) but I don't care. The weight of it just makes me feel like I've got a substantial bag that's well made. Even hubby was impressed with the look and color of it.

it is so funny how some people have the blake as their biggest bag and others have it as their smallest. it is certainly my smallest bag...but i love it anyway. i have only had mine a week but i can tell this is a long term relationship of love

The MJ Blake is definitely my favorite bag, hands down. I looove the Blakes - white, black, anything. I'm surprised people think they're heavy, though. I'm extremely petite, and I still think they're perfect.
