Hi, I noticed a few weeks back that the price of the MJ small cecilia this season is $995 instead of the normal $1300 or so. I finally saw the new one at Nordstrom yesterday and it felt considerably lighter, thinner, and all around cheaper. Has anyone noticed this? I bought a Cecilia last year and the leather was thick, delicious and the craftsmanship just *felt* better. Is this all in my imagination or is it for real?

^^that's a good question ech.....I don't have a cecilia so I can't answer that but I am sure someone will chime in here. Are you sure the small cecilia's were around $1300?? What do the large ones cost, closer to $1400??

The large ones are 1300 and up.

I think its great that they got the price down to $995. Its a great bag, and nice to be able to get the small version for under $1000. I think the original small Cecilia from R'07 were around $1200, which I thought was too close to the price for the large. I hadn't noticed a quality change in the smaller size. I'll have to check it out later when I get to work.

Wow I didn't even know the older small Cecilias had a retail that high. 995 makes sense to me.... If only there was the small Cecilia in Beige this season. I would be all over that

i did noticed from retail sites small cecilia price are $995, have no idea what it was before
i bought my large SD Cecilia retail was $1475, but i got a super good deal

hmmm.. from what I've seen online, the small is really small.. smaller than the small previous season cecilia so the price definitely makes sense.. I have to check them out IRL to see the quality..

The leather seems comparable to me thickness-wise, and I didn't get the cheap feeling that you described. Different, maybe, but not necessarily cheap....

^thanks for your input, blackonmaroon. I'm glad you appreciate the difference as well. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply the Cecilia was by any means cheap now ($995 is still a hefty price for a handbag!), but I think the quality has taken a small step down along with the price.

I don't know the original small cecilia, but I was at Nordstrom last Sunday and saw this baby. I think the leather is just fine but don't have cheap feelings. To my surprise, even though named "small", it doesn't look as tiny as it's shown on Nordstrom's website. It's almost the same size as Chloe medium paraty!

I'm glad to hear they dropped the price on the cecilia. It's such an adorable bag and more affordable at the lower price. I hope the quality and sizing didn't change too much!

I took another look last night, and while the leather is different from last season, I would say that it's more comparable to the leather from the very first season Cecilia's. Kind of like the So Cool but without the sheen. It's great how light it makes the bag too. I think this may be my fave version since it has the long leather strap, conservative size, and light weight.
