Default Pricing opinions please!
I am considering buying my first Marc Jacobs bag, but as well as having great difficulty coming to a decision on style and colour (why oh why does that man have to be so creative?) I'm also a little stuck on what's considered a decent price for what's around. I'm in Australia and have a very limited choice over here. The closest place to buy MJ is four hours away and even then it's overpriced, so I'm looking at eBay mostly, US department stores as a last resort because their postage costs are phenomenal, if they post here at all.

I'll just put the pictures here, not the eBay links so as not to put prices in your head. Any and all opinions on these, or even suggestions are welcome.

Bag One
Lightly used, tiny bit of scuffing to corners and small nick in leather.

Bag Two
Lightly used, tiny mark on bottom, comes with dustbag, original tags and receipt from Neiman Marcus.

Bag Three
New, no tags, no dust bag. Has the small stud on the inside pocket.

That's kind of an odd inquiry, to be honest. I suggest you go with your own judgment and budget, along with the range of the seller's asking price, to make your decision. We all stalk eBay and know the asking prices for the bags already.

My personal favorite of these bags is #2. It's a great style and a great color! Then I like #1. This is a super vintage style and while I own the clutch I've never seen this bag in real life! I bet it's nice and I like the color. I don't care for #3.

I agree with bom. It's really a personal decision regarding what a bag is worth especially if you are somewhere that has limited access to mj. Good luck! Do share what you end up getting!

I don't have much judgement to go on, that's the problem.

That was my thinking somewhat, I should decide what I'm willing to pay and as long as I'm happy it's all good. I've just seen MJ's mentioned as overpriced on the authenticity thread and I'm not someone who can tell which ones are or not.

I like the first two the best, too. The third one is quite a bit cheaper, but probably no good if I don't heart it.

I agree, a bag is worth what you're willing to pay for it! As for the styles, #2 is the only one that's my style, and I really can't figure out #3.

Hi, I'm just gonna jump in this thread! I'm always asking on here for people's opinions because I have such a hard time making decisions, so I know exactly how you feel. And prices always get me, it makes me wonder if I should settle for the one I like a little less, because it has the lower price.

Out of all of your options, I actually LOVE the 1st one. I've never seen that one, which is surprising, but I REALLY like it. Don't know how much the price is but here's my experience: there was a bag I really wanted and I had to find a way to get it, it was 100 something dollars over my price limit, but I keep watching the site, and it went down 100, so that worked out, but it was still pretty expensive. So my advice is, when you find a bag that you really like, and you lean more toward that one that your other options, you should try to find the best deal you can, but if you already have, then that's all you can do. It's up to you, and I hate to say that because it doesn't give you much help, but it is, and if you know you're going to love one of these bags and feel better with it, you should find a way to get it, but if you feel like waiting for something else where you'd love the bag more and get a better deal, then you can wait, too.
I hope that wasn't confusing and hope it helps, good luck with whatever you choose!

my favorite is the second one too. since they're all vintage mj styles, i'd say they shouldn't go more than $300 usd even then i think it's a bit higher than what these styles usually sell for. good luck! i hope you end up getting one of them!

Why don't you just get the one you like the most? Wouldn't that be easier than trying to reconcile a bunch of opinions that ultimately won't matter much kuz you're the one that has to love or not love the bag you get?

Exactly. We're not all swimming in money. I'm still at uni and owe the government who knows how many thousands.

Thanks, that was really helpful. I'm not completely convinced on any of the bags, though I do like one and two quite a bit, so I think I might hold out until I find something perfect.

Thank you, that's what I was looking for. I thought they seemed a little expensive for pre-owned bags, particularly when I add in currency conversion. But I wasn't sure, which is why I asked. I'll have to think about it a little more.

No, it wouldn't be easier. I don't think I would love it, if I found out I unknowingly paid a ridiculous amount for something that wasn't worth that much. Forgive me for just trying to get a little help on something I wasn't sure about.

You're forgiven.

I was referring to the style of bag and not the amount of money you should pay, as others had already left comments about that. People often ask for opinions about which bags they should buy, and often they're just seeking for validation, which is what I offered--validation that whatever choice you make for yourself is the right one for you (and if you go back and read all the posts, you'll see I was not the only one to suggest that). I'm sorry you didn't find that advice helpful. Forgive me for trying.

As the title and original post stated, I was just asking for people's opinions on the price for those styles of bags. Largely because I haven't ever seen them anywhere else to compare and I don't know Marc Jacobs' stuff well enough to judge properly by myself. I understand that I need to find the bag that's right for me, but I'm not partial to paying too much purely because of ignorance.

People might often seek validation, but that wasn't what I was looking for and your post came off as very condescending.

Then I misunderstood this thread. I saw the title, but also read your post, and I thought you were asking for opinions about the bags as well. Maybe you haven't been here long enough to see the many threads like this one--where OPs ask for opinions about which bags they should get--in the general handbag forum, and see that there are as many people choosing bag A or B as those saying "why don't you get the one you like the most?" I post on such threads often and have never had a respond like yours. I didn't mean to be condescending--and I apologize if I came across that way. You, on the other hand, did mean to be sarcastic and condescending, and I responded to that--probably shouldn't have. My mistake.

In any case, you've said your piece, I've said mine, and your thread is about your bags, not about us, so I'm done here. If there's anything else you'd like to say to me, feel free to PM me. I hope you find the bag you're looking for.

Patience is a virtue & it doesn't hurt to ask.

I think that if you find the asking rice to be too much then you could wait till the price drops (especially if no one bids on it and seller relist) or you could ask the seller if he/she is willing to sell for less.

There are several bags I really want but I'm holding off until the price is right especially when purchasing from ebay/bonz/etc.
