Totally worth it, Tad. Art is food for the soul!!

I had such a nice day with my little family We went out to brunch and had the entire country club dining room to ourselves (we went pretty early and I think everyone else was sleeping off the fireworks, lol), then did a little clothes/shoes shopping for the kiddos (I bought myself NOTHING and when I mentioned that DH said it was b/c we weren't in stores with expensive enough merchandise - sheesh!), then we ALL took a little nap and went to the pool for a couple of hours. I'm all relaxed and content now, other than the fact that nothing I have listed on fleabay is selling. Oh, well. I'm too mellow to care right now

Tad, where did you eat in Chinatown? I always go for dim sum at Golden Unicorn (I think?) and Ten Ren Tea Time Cafe for bubble tea. YUM!

This is so random, but I hate people who don't respond to emails and people who don't follow deadlines when it comes to working in groups. And I hate mothering people and asking them to send in certain things at certain times. I can't think of a nice way of saying things without sounding like an ass.

ash, that sounds like such a wonderful family day and your h cracks me up!

pure, i totally agree. i've done SO MUCH group work in grad school (and i'm sure more is on the way in the fall) and while i've mostly worked with great groups, there's one or two people who i would never want to work with again. i usually speak up though because i'm paying for school and i don't want my grade to suffer b/c of them.

we had a big group project in my last class; one girl didn't come to the class when groups were assigned, then she didn't ask the prof who her group was. we knew she was in our group so we included her on e-mails for our first meeting, yet she didn't show. she got the least amount of work b/c no one trusted her to do the big stuff. but i definitely commented about it on my group eval at the end of class!

honestly, if someone is slacking, who cares if you sound like an ass i'm sure you wouldn't anyway. i just try to be to the point and still nice..."gentle reminder that all of our work is due by ___" or something like that. :)

pm - that sounds like a perfect day!
pure - yeah, working in groups is awful when everyone doesn't pull their own weight in a timely manner.
tad - yes! support the arts!

i am miserable as i seem to have come down with a cold.

thanks, dawn!

your b-day tapas sound like they will be really fun. i love tapas. clubbing is weird, but can be fun with the right people. i love to dance but am very picky about the music and the right atmosphere, etc. how's the sunburn doing?

clubbing is totally weird but the friends we're going with should make it fun. :) i have no idea what kind of clubs they will be dragging me to, but that's okay.
the sunburn still sucks. i went to cvs and bought 2 cans of aloe spray and a can of solarcaine. it helps temporarily but the advil seems to work the best.

my MOTHER told me to take a super hot shower. she said the pain would be worth it b/c it would make the burn go away. i said that james was already in bed and i did not think he would appreciate my screams of pain from the bathroom. it makes me wince just thinking about a hot shower!
